May 11, 20206 yr under AS P3D (v5 ), my clouds flash, as you see them update. There is no slow coming in, or morphing of the cloud sets...nope...a FLASH, and a cloud pops in, or out. In older versions of AS or ASN, (remember?) there was a setting that allowed the clouds to slowly come in...removing this FLASH and a cloud set appears. If there is this option, I can't seem to find it, in AS P3D. Also a question to help me tune and such. Is anybody else running the present Beta, seeing their clouds flash, where by you also get a stutter, micro or major as the clouds are being drawn and 'updated'? I am, and would be very helpful if others who have this also report. I wonder if it is an active 'live' action of the Shaders updating the cloudscapes. I always thought that the shaders were built, at the onset, and then never modified themselves. Am I wrong in that? Do they in fact, constantly update, to give you darker underbelly of the cloud base, if you are approaching a storm or 'moist' condition? That would be good to know...and that, I don't at this time... So folks..anybody else seeing clouds flashing as they update? Edited May 11, 20206 yr by Sesquashtoo
May 11, 20206 yr Moderator Mitch - you have to let us know if you have EA enabled or disabled. If enabled all I can say is it's a beta implementation by LM - you could get anything. Not that it cannot happen but I have not seen any popping with EA disabled. Also are you using ASCA clouds or something else? Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
May 11, 20206 yr Is this with True Sky or “old school” clouds? Flashing upon updates is a known issue when True Sky clouds are being controlled externally. I did a coast-to-coast flight yesterday in the updated PMDG 747, using the original cloud system with ASPD3. Cloud cover was pretty extensive from the east coast until reaching Colorado, and I saw no flashing or cloud pops at all. May 12, 20206 yr Commercial Member Regardless of any weather addon, P3D seems to have a bug when injecting clouds via SimConnect. In fact, this “Flashing” happens when there are several simconnect weather changes, injections or several subsequent requests. Maybe you should open a ticket in the LM forums. Then...it settles down, for I suppose AS P3D is not receiving new weather telemetry and then trying to implement that in the cloud representations. I remember we used to have that with FSX and early P3D's...until they wrote a routine that slowly updated the clouds and they came in 'morphing'. I think they need to revisit that...

You feel that's what it is? I'll do that...thanks. It looks like the old lightning flash in the sky...very troublesome...and the sim stutters in animation while this is going on.

There are ways to bypass it, but it is on each developers to try smooth it. Federico Sucari

September 1, 20205 yr I myself think it’s a driver issue I have reverted and staying with driver 446.14 all drivers above that have caused issues for me. dont know what’s going on. mike
September 1, 20205 yr I don't know if we had the same type of flashing but mine was fixed by doing the following: Right-click your P3D.exe Properties / Compatibility Check: 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations Tom
