I bought it outright, but I wonder if there is some secret advantage to buying it as a subscription to XBOX Gampass at $4.95 a month (other than getting access to a zillion other crappy games).

There is none. And that you only gets you the standard version.

The beta is talking about the Gamepass for PC, not the game.

What`s game pass got to do with MSFS, game pass is subscription.

If you buy the $4.95/month subscription to it, you get MSFS Standard for free.

That sounds like a quote from the movie Airplane.

Yep.  Looking at perhaps an X52.  Not had much success with Thrustmaster in the reliability stakes.

I'm pretty sure you're confused on both points.

Xbox Gamepass for PC is still in beta. The beta is referring to gamepass and not the game.

So if Windows 10 only, then it won't be coming to the new Xbox then will it.

I wish people would stop making stuff up. It doesn’t say Windows 10 only. You're saying there will be no Xbox One version based on something it doesn't say and yet are saying there will be a Xbox Series X version, based on something it doesn't say. Strange.

The new XBox will only run under Win10 OS. It's the only version that supports DX11 and later MSFS version's DX12...

Consoles have their own operating systems. While they might be based on Windows, they aren't and don't need to be the same. The Xbox Series X will not have Windows 10 operating system. The point being made though is a poster is stating it's not coming to Xbox One because they said it states Windows 10 only which it doesn't. Even so, from the very first release trailer, we knew it was a Windows 10 game as well as a Xbox One game.

I understand, I just went to FsElite and on the New Previews for FS2020 the comments says that it's nothing like in the previews and another said that he dislikes it and looks arcade like so....

Alpha tester here, they're talking nonsense. Don't mind people like them.

Guys, what do you think we can expect for total download time on the night of 17th going into the 18th? I’m just wondering whether to stay up for the night or leave it downloading until morning.

Yes, it's only the Gamepass itself that is in beta.

Although the MSFS alpha is currently in a somewhat incomplete and rudimentary state, the sim will undergo a thorough 2-week beta testing period prior to release-to-market. So...uh...nothing to worry about there, chaps!
