I've been using the premium beta and it's really good so far.  The only thing I can't get functioning is the Metar module.  Every time I try to enter my token, it ends up being a character short and no data is recognized.  Not sure what's going on.

I have the pms50-gtn750-base and pms50-gtn750-premium folders in my MSFS Community folder via the Add-on Linker program. I have nothing else in the Community folder. When I load the C172-1000 I get the regular G1000 MFD screen. It seems I have to at least get the basic GTN 750 display so I can enter my key to activate the Premium version of the GTN750, but I can't seem to get any GTN750 display at all

Any suggestions appreciated.

Al

Not sure about the c172 but the basic version of the 750 comes up fine as a selectable option in the Just Flight Arrow

In the base package there's a folder called Aircraft Packages with 6 other folders with names like pms50-gtn750-aircraft-c172 .   Put those 6 folders in your community folder and the 750 will be active in the compatible planes.

That solved the problem -- thank you!

All works with the C208, Bonanza, etc., but I can't get it to show up in the X-Cub or modded X-cub? Any thoughts appreciated.

The PMS50 GTN750 mod only works with certain aircraft. From the mod's documentation:

The font used in the token is rather odd.  I ended up having to copy and paste the token into a notepad document so I could read it correctly.

Ark:

Thanks, but I was referring to JD's mod on the mod, extending the GTN750 to the Cirrus, X-Cub, Steam-gauge C172, Jabiru, Carenado planes, Etc.  I apologize for not making the distinction clear.  Thanks again.

After removing all the GTN750 mod files from the Community folder (via the Addons Linker) the MDF in the C172 G1000 now remains black -- didn't seem to 'recover' from the GTN750 mod. Should it have? Do I have to re-download the plane?

Thanks,

Al

Yes it should.

Note that the mod has multiple folders (basic, premium and various aircraft specific)  however just removing the one folder that mentions C172 in its name should be enough to bring back the original default g1000.

Removing the basic 750 mod folders but leaving the behind the special C172 folder enabled would of course cause your symptoms as the Cessna 172 middle MFD #2 would be trying to load a non existent GN750 you just deleted.

Also - are you using the WT G1000 maybe that is conflicting somehow?

With further investigation it does seem to be a WT G1000 issue. Applying the WT G1000 mod after removing the GTN750 mod does not work. -- no MFD. Not using the WT G1000 mod does work -- the MFD lights up with the map displayed . So it seems the GTN750 mod has 'left something behind' (some change to the panel.cfg file perhaps) that clashes with the latest WT G1000 -- at least on my system.

Next thing to try would be disable everything in the Community folder and check that no real folders (as opposed to addon linker virtual links) have snuck in. Then once the community folder is definitely empty install a freshly downloaded copy of the WT G1000 and test it with nothing else installed.

Installation of the latest WT G1000 mod seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks very much for the help!

I didn't realize you could install the GTN750 into the steam gauge version of the C172. Does it come with its own custom bezel? Could you please show me how to do this?

Also how does one update the GTN 750 unit?
