Or he just wanted to have some fun? It's a sim, not real life.

Once again, I'm not against fun.

Yup, GA aviation is a lot better on your side of the pond regulation-wise, although it's not vastly cheaper these days, like it used to be.

Doesn't matter to me personally, but what does matter, is that someone who claims to be knowledgeable about flight has a youtube channel putting out stuff about it, yet is clearly bull*******g about his level of knowledge. and I don't like bull*******s

And I don't care about your condescending 'feel sorry' attitude either.

Well if you're going to act like a know it all then at least have some self respect for your self and get it right.

VFR at night is permitted in accordance with SERA requirements. Aircraft leaving the vicinity of an aerodrome must maintain 2-way communication with ATC and file a flight plan. The process of 'booking out' is still accepted as an alternative method to filing a formal paper or electronic flight plan in certain circumstances. Similarly, abbreviated flight plans filed in flight are still permitted.

Nice straw man for your personal attack on me. Would you like a pitchfork and a torch to go with that?

But try again, because I did get it right. Watch the video I was talking about and you will see it does not correspond to rules which you have to follow to make a flight at night. For a kick off, you have to file a specifically detailed flight plan before any of the other separation rules start having to be observed, that's one, and since VFR officially ends at sunset in the UK and begins again at sunrise, that's two. But all this is a moot point anyway, because as I pointed out, me mentioning all this was not really about that anyway.

Fun, that is why I drink a beer now and then when flying with a simulator. No virtual aviation police have shown up yet wanting my FS2002 VFR and IFR licenses I printed off 18 or so years ago.

Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder.

I know you're ground based but do try and keep up.

Either grab a pitchfork and pile on in the melee of ignorance, or, see above answer. It isn't VFR, it is an exemption from the restrictions on VFR, with a filed flight plan and a set of rules additional you have to follow. VFR finishes in the UK at sunset and starts at sunrise. Phone up the CAA and ask them if you don't believe me.

My job is indeed ground based, but I got my pilot's licence in August 1997, the FAI/Royal Aero Club number, is 100875.

Well, Chock seems to very clear say VFR is illegal at night in the UK. The official guidance is that it is permitted. But then Chock says he got it right. As Chock is a self-professed champion in the fight against 'bull****', I'm sure he did indeed get it right, and VFR flight at night is both illegal, and permitted.

Now that's funny. Still, if it lets people get their jollies having a pop at me, then swing away people, I'll happily be the source of entertainment for the day. It's amusing how everyone seems to have their knickers in a twist at the moment over the arrival of a toy aeroplane game though. I bet a shrink could have a field day over what are the reasons for that.

Now I suppose everyone will have a go at me for calling them toy planes as well. 🤣 😈

Well you decided to put down a Youtuber for putting up a video because in your own words:

Now suddenly when the tables are turned you are going to play the victim - it doesn't feel nice does?it? So don't go around doing it to other people!

If I can quote myself, how exactly does: 'if it lets people get their jollies having a pop at me, then swing away people, I'll happily be the source of entertainment for the day' equate to playing the victim?

If I'd have been crying into my tea or threatening to report people or some such thing because I objected to people saying stuff to me, some of which does actually break the Avsim rules if you have a look at it (including stuff you wrote incidentally) then that would have been playing the victim. But I actually said I didn't mind it nor have I complained about it, either officially or unofficially. It's water off a duck's back to me when some keyboard warrior has a pop at me. But whatever dude, think what you like. As I say, I don't mind.

He has a pilots license and his goal wasn't show of real life rules on flying rather just to show what the big city in his country looks like at night, flying without instruments. Because people were asking for it. And he mentioned you can get a night rating, which he can get in UK.

Jeez man, don't be so toxic.
