August 8, 20205 yr One thing that has really surprised me is the number of XPlane people who are interested in MSFS. Lots of 'em in the Beta forum as well. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I'm not trying to prove anything about Xplane. I never even played Xplane. Jeez, calm down, people, it's like the Spanish Inquisition in here. 😅

Don't expect it to work like FSX and if you notice something missing, also take the time to notice the things that FSX/P3D didn't have. Rumor is there are going to be some add-ons ready to go at release. Airplanes will probably come later in the year. Yeah, I've just watched the TBM video of Squirrel... oh boy... The autopilot wobbles around on VNAV, the pushback has some ugly quirks (animation, handling), the ATC got bugged and so on... There's some serious work ahead of ASOBO... Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

I mean its OK, Asobo is not until now an expert in simulations, they can improve the behaviour of the jet airliners. Budget must be also considered. FS was built on top of FSX. The propeller planes are moving right, but as it seems, they have reworked the jet airliners and they don`t look simworthy. It doesn `t matter if you land or smash the Airbus to the ground, it produces the same GTA V smash like sound.The ATC voices have also the same exact robotic sounds. The physics of the jets have no damping, strange forces. I mean honestly, that is not a simulator. Considering that FS2020 is built on top of FSX, even if Asobo only updated the graphics, it would still be a flight simulator. Unless you're going to tell us that FSX was never a simulator and the one true simulator is only X-Plane. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub

I was asking about the Xplane airports in the video that was posted at the beginning of this thread, because I was surprised how detailed they seemed. As the ones in the video were mostly handcrafted, the comparison with handcrafted MSFS airports is valid, of course. Still, I think that concentrating on the handcrafted MSFS airports in videos and previews too much could be a rude awakening for people seeing the regular autogen MSFS airports after release. They look much better than default airports in FSX and presumably Xplane, of course, but there's still a lot of work to be done on them. Edited August 8, 20205 yr by Der Zeitgeist
August 8, 20205 yr I'm thinking this comparison video it not that relevant. While MSFS will come out of the box with ortho and lidar buildings and such we have yet to see the flaws of tiles not matched or whatever. I'm sure it will be good. However that comparison stuff is sort of useless...I have beefed up my XP11.5+ and fly in LV16+ ortho with overlays and have 100s of addon freeware airports along with the massive growing list of gateway free stuff. My visual flight experience is far superior than that video posted in OP. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3

The leaked Alpha video of the Airbus 320 before the media release was a disappointment. I loved FSX back in 2009, it was my first real virtual flight experience, it was fascinating to see that in windy conditions the air somehow controls the airplane, as a driver (I know it`s not the right word) you have to correct the plane`s pitch and roll position every second. I was a child when I tried FS95, so I don`t count that. I know that FS (great new naming convention from Microsoft) has a legacy mode, if it the same as FSX, than there is defenately nothing to complain. I must admit though, trying X-Plane changed things a lot for me. I installed FSX just to try my hometown scenery, I was expecting the physics to be the same, as I had the same memories, but I realized that X-Plane has a much greater control sensitivity, it gives so much more response. (I tried X-Plane because I couldn`t resist of FS) FSX got deleted the day afterwards, so if legacy physics are the same in FS as in FSX (as it should be expected), FS will be a great ride. But after coming in touch with X-Plane it`s a question what I would prioritize. Seeing the physics and judging it for my own, there is no need for me to fly FS and I am glad that I have not jumped to the train. A PMDG product likely will make FS next generation for me. But FS is a product mainly focused on graphics. Edit: I am still online because I like the graphics a lot, I look forward to the release and the reviews, even if I won`t try it. I wish I'd known to put a box fan up front blowing wind in my face. Scenery was as good as I could imagine. My best flight simulator was a Cessna 150 around 1970, flew just like the real thing. Scenery was pretty good, too. Today it's MSFS. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I watched a video the other day showing group flying and within a couple minutes I noticed the default airport at Hope, BC was not as good as XP, that there were mismatched ortho tiles, and that those stupid dirt balls like in FSX were flying off the wheels. I wondered, why am I seeing those dirt balls? Which someone corrected with a nice freeware adjustment. Those dirtballs flying off the wheels came from FSX and earlier so why would they be in the new sim....yet there they were. Do perhaps your comment explains, whatever, built on top of FSX means.
