Does performance significantly improve as you go from 16 to 32? Not really, You might get away with less stutters when loading densely populated areas, but I'd give priority to a new GPU if you have less than a 1070 R5 3600 - GTX 1070OC - 32GB 3200 - NVME - 3440x1440 160Hz - VR(Quest 2) GarbagePoster™

I'm still on a 970 and I'll be getting a 3080 next month when they come out regardless. That needed to happen not just for MSFS, but for a variety of games.

August 20, 20205 yr Mine would be around $110...was originally $150 back in Dec of 2018. Not so sure it's worth upgrading from 16 to 32 for just the sim...i really dont need it for anyting else and I think id get more out of a 2080 (currently have a 1080). Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons

Latest leaks say it beats a Titan by 21% and bests a 2080ti by 30%. And its MSRP is gonna be the same as the 2080 Super or possibly lower if AMD forces their hand.

August 20, 20205 yr There are actually a few pretty good reasons to go to 32Gb of RAM even though MSFS will function on 16Gb. There's the fact that we are currently all using it stock, with no other things linking to it externally. How long does anyone think that will remain the case? Then there's video. Anyone who has captured video for YT from the new sim would tell you that trying to do that when on the ragged edge with 16Gb of RAM would almost certainly end in tears. Serious (off topic) question, what do you use to capture video? Are you using an external capture device, or what software have you found that does it best? I've used OBS, but my recordings end in tears even with 32GB of RAM. If you have posted this elsewhere or on your channel, feel free to just point me there... 5800X3D | Radeon RX 6900XT

August 20, 20205 yr Ive seen it use over 20gb a number of times. Significant performance difference? No, But its being used, and ram is certainly faster than a cache to the SSD. Since its real cheap right now, it makes sense. All it takes is a factory fire at any one manufacturer and ram suddenly spikes. I used to use FRAPs, but it doesn't work with the DX12 P3D V5, so I switched to using ATI's built-in Radeon capture, which seems to do a good job. Thanks, I swapped my Radeon 5700XT for a Nvidia due to P3Dv5, so I'll try the Nvidia built-in and see how that works, thanks! 5800X3D | Radeon RX 6900XT

August 20, 20205 yr I was getting really pixelated looking clouds at times, I think extra memory might reduce that issue. It seems like the game sacrifices cloud fidelity first when VRAM and local ram are getting too high, but I don't know for sure.
