August 22, 20205 yr ...due to the background claim..I read the plus and the not-so-plus comments equally. Quote: Disappointed here. As a retired military pilot and flight simulator instructor and current private pilot, this is a game and not a flight simulator. Sure, the graphics are pretty, but that’s the extent of it. No multi-monitor support, no ForeFlight support, primitive flight planning, poor VFR map, unrealistic ATC simulation. I now realize how good XPlane 11 is. I got suckered in by FS2020’s graphics! Its used for flight planning, aviation weather, maps and charts. Its actually an amazing bit of software and even comes with a function that can show a full PFD along with NAV display on the tablet in case of an emergency. It has revolutionized flight planning, takes care of everything, aircraft wieght & balance, the weather, too much to even list on here, Heres a vid
August 23, 20205 yr well foreflight is supported now with an addons https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
August 23, 20205 yr No multi-monitor support??? ASUS Prime Z490-A / i7-10700K / RTX 4080 / G.SKILL Ripjaws 32GB / Lian-Li PC-O11 Dynamic case
August 23, 20205 yr I guess it depends on how you define simulator. Is MFS better than the old Link simulators? I think we'll agree it is in most aspects. Is MFS better or near equivalent to a full motion $1000/hr simulator. It's less expensive, so there's that. Today, I was doing touch and go's at McKinney, TX, just like I did all those years ago. I was simulating what I did then, only it was now. The landmarks were the same and the little quarry where I usually turn to the base leg was there. The 380 state highway was there to keep south of. Pretty much a simulator in those respects. The aircraft flight model wasn't simulator quality... I'm conflicted and wish I hadn't read this post. It's better than nothing; a whole lot better. Looking forward to some A2A aircraft in MFS, that's for sure. Love the games in the back though. That multimonitor looks like it is work of Matrox triple head to go. August 23, 20205 yr So this guy doesn't have exactly the same things he has in X-Plane in 5 day old MSFS so he claims its not a sim. Weird logic. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub
August 23, 20205 yr I'm XP11 user as well. I have never use ATC in XP11 as it in such a poor and unusable condition. I don't remember any built in flight planing in XP11 or "good" VFR charts. I'm using Foreflight for real flying and of course in sims. But there other apps such as WingX and GarminPilot. Why Foreflight should define flight sim is history to me! I really don't understand why so called "real pilots" do such a poor assessment without even trying to figure things out. Even if MSFS didn't have ATC, flight planning and support for ForeFlight it still can be called flight similator. Needless to say that FAA improved simulators do not support them either!
