.. for the first one to explain how to make the Tail Number selection stick, so that I do not have to select it every time I go flying!

I know this answer will agitate the masses, but...it can be changed in the aircraft.cfg just like in P3D for the plane in question.

Marvellous! Except I don't have an aircraft.cfg. Is this a Developer Mode thing?

all my a/c are here - drill down in the folders and you'll find all the CFG files. - Obviously use your username.  🙂

FWIW, I created a shortcut to that folder so it's easy to flip in and out.

I do like how easy it is to change the aircraft reg number in the ATC menu, and how good the result looks on the fuselage.

Every aircraft I fly in the sim has the same UK registration: “G-WHIZ”.

What Vic said. The Official and Community folders are where content - scenery and aircraft - go. I love this because it can be easily backed up and, so far at least, nothing gets put in other directories. But...these folders are where you chose to install the download content when you first ran MSFS. If you left it default, then all your content from 3PDs, the marketplace, Avsim library, etc will amass in your appdata folder, which may not be ideal for some, so specifying a nice fast SSD for that on first run is important. I know that doesn't help those that have already installed, though. I'm not sure if there's a way to move that location. There probably is, but I don't yet know how. Since I was in the alpha, I knew what to expect so when the release came, I created a new folder on my E drive, an M.2 SSD, called MSFS and then pointed the content download there.

CWBurnett,

You sir, are a mine of information.  Have you or anyone else for that matter noticed that there is no aircraft.cfg for, particularly. the 787, and a few others.  I only noticed this because I have just changed the Rego numbers on all the aircraft in that folder.  The particularly vexing missing cfgs are the 787 and the Baron58.

Any ideas why they might be missing?

Regards with lots of appreciation  for that fix/information

That, sir, I do not know. But...in the liveries thread people were referring to the fact that, as of now, they can't do liveries for the deluxe or premium content because it is locked up somewhere else. So maybe this is related? On one hand, I understand why they'd lock up that content so people don't just zip up the folder and share it around. On the other hand, it's frustrating not to have access to it... I guess it won't matter once we get 3PD aircraft in sim because they'll go in that Community folder we do have access to...or so I hope...

So, it didn't take you very long to reach the limits of my information...lol

Bert, I was going to tell you that I had read there were two different ways of making the fuselage number stick.  It seems no one knows either of them.

Thanks Vic, I did know where they lived. 🙂

Query 1. Yes it is in Developer mode then aircraft.cfgs appear. Oddly enough not all of them. Some aircraft still dont have an aircraft.cfg in them. Maybe if I enable DM again they will appear.

The aircraft cfg file, as well the model file and panel xml, for the aircraft in the Premium and Deluxe versions are locked behind a proprietary .fsarchive file. Most likely to prevent sharing and piracy, There's no way to access them as far as I know. I do wonder if there will be an official way to support community repaints for those plane.
