Seems that they improve the scenery drastically for their previews and we get a lower quality in the sim... really disappointed. This is actually not a huge question mark because it's been addressed several times. The original masking technology was not good enough to use world wide because of the lack of quality of the bing imagery of shallow water, so it was removed. They probably expected to get it fixed but couldn't figure out how. Therefore, for the release version, they had to start hand masking areas and will continue to do so. There are already lots of shallow water detail areas in the game, but they are not AI driven. As Asobo adds them, you will see them. This thread is a good example of how you get developers to disengage like ACES did. It's one thing to say "I want to see them get this in game." It's another to start spreading wild conspiracy theories about photoshop and false advertising. Edited August 25, 20205 yr by bonchie

Dude, I dont think the tides are the best in my flight sim. You mean your sailing sim. NOPE, my flight sim. Got it 🙂

I agree with what you are saying to some extent, but there is a lot of false advertising in marketing these days. That doesn't mean this one instance was a case of intentional false advertising (not going to make that assertion), but even if not intentional, it was still false advertising. False advertising does not have to be intentional, just like manslaughter does not have to be intentional. That said, overall I think they did a good job on the water, I've seen some great aqua blues to deep greens depending on lighting and angles, which really enhances the sim. I'm not going to fault them for these graphics, though it was technically false advertising (intentional or not). Now as far as the waves go, I think they do need to update them, also maybe there are birds in the game, but I've never seen any yet. There is tons of potential across the board, and most of the minor graphical issues I can overlook since this is FLYING sim not a water skiing sim. Just hoping they get that SDK finished before fixing minor graphics issues, and hopefully give us some higher res ortho (at least in some places), then I'd be pretty happy even with only those 2 fixes. Sure there is a lot more work to be done, but that would be a good start. AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
August 25, 20205 yr Author I dont get why we continously defend MS/Asobo and no, it is not the fear that they stop developing because we are overdemanding. That is ridiculous and another remnant from back in the times where the community had to be glad for each single addon. I repeat myself, but imagine MS showing a video of an excel/word component and then it is not included in the release version? Could MS afford doing this? No. Then why the heck should we accept such things in MSFS? Because it is a game? Because the community forgives such things over years now? I guess we should stop this. The gamers attracted to MSFS for sure wont bother about some wrong naivity for the sake of having a sim...
