They presently don't have the water masking in place, so this is why we get the results shown above. The developer says right here that tides affect how the imagery and thus water in sim looks. Maybe not specifically for Bora Bora, but definitely for plenty of areas around the world. Edited August 23, 20205 yr by walloppy
August 23, 20205 yr You guys do remember that FSX preview image right? Same deal. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

August 23, 20205 yr The tidal amplitude in French Polynesia is very small. It is what geographers call an amphidromic point. We should obviously see the lagoon and shores shallow waters. August 23, 20205 yr I really hope they keep their word on this. Flying over tropical islands such as Hawaii and not seeing these beautiful water masks kinda ruins the immersion. Although it still looks beautiful, but I would love to see the islands and tropical areas in all its glory. August 23, 20205 yr Humm you are not really using the same settings! Go to General , Under Graphics and turn TAA/ Terrain Level of Detail up to 150 or 200, Ultra only goes to 100. You will then see a huge difference. Ofc your computer is going to hate you! i7-8600k @ 3.70 GHz 16.0 GB Ram OS Win 10-64 bit Geforce GTX 1070
August 23, 20205 yr The ultra preset already sets both these LOD's to 200. I've already checked. August 23, 20205 yr Author I have everything on max, does not change anything. The guys screenshots you linked are from those few regions where watermasks are already present, see the linked thread here. It is simply not finished, but then it should be properly communicated and not used in advertising, this is just close to false advertisment... August 23, 20205 yr Talking about water, has anyone noticed that at low altitudes it looks like you can see the effect of wind on calm water (not talking about waves)... From memory I was running water on high... Maybe it was clouds reflecting off the water, but it didn't look like it... Maybe they just apply some static texturing to the water so it doesn't look too "glassy".. IDK, should have taken a screenshot. Edited August 23, 20205 yr by MatthewS Matthew S
August 23, 20205 yr Look pretty close to me. What are you expecting for entire world for $60? The Mississippi gulf coast and the lower part of Louisiana has never looked so good. Everything that was done by everyone who tried to fix the water masking in FSX failed big time. This one is near perfect along the Florida Panhandle with the emerald green waters. When Pigs Fly . August 23, 20205 yr That trailer came out after the sim was released, probably recorded on a developer version of the sim which would be running a newer version than what we have. Keep an eye out on future updates to the sim. Edited August 23, 20205 yr by Tuskin38
August 23, 20205 yr One of the first things I did was fly out over the Great Barrier Reef only to find it's completely missing. I'd imagine it's coming in a future update.
