How does MSFS PG look? How do some of the buildings look? How do the trees look? Post some pics up close.

Looks good to me, if you have a fast enough internet connection. Just search for a decent video on YouTube.  Here is one video, it took me 10 seconds to find it:

This is pretty much what I get when I fly around cities in the US and Canada in MSFS if there is photogrammetry.

Those XP pics really did look like hot garbage, when compared against MSFS. That sunset pic? Yikes.

DJJose, a lot of people switched from XP to P3D to MSFS because of the graphics/visuals in MSFS is so much better.  You have a lot of people in this forum who have spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on XP and P3D,  but still switched to MSFS because of the graphics/visuals.  They get graphics like the video above, of Seattle.

You have to be very biased to even begin to argue that XP 11 is even close to MSFS in graphics/visuals.  It’s not remotely close. The difference in graphics is at least a 10 year gap.

Now for XP 12, it has closed the gap with MSFS.  But based on the videos I have seen, it’s still lagging.  Maybe try to compare XP 12 to MSFS but please don’t try to compare XP 11 graphics to MSFS, there is no competition between XP 11 graphics and MSFS graphics.

From what we saw from xp12 i.e the competetion for now, the only thing that remains in favor for MSFS is the default global scenery.

Compare that to all the other already well estabilished aspects i.e. flight model, helicopters, high quality freeware/payware aircrafts, even fighters that do shoot and have dedicated particles effects because "violence" is allowed lol. I think the gap is rather clear, by the time MSFS closes it (years), where will the competetion be? Let alone the competetion now is not crippled by an old engine from now on.

I have been simming for decades, and for decades I have heard XP fliers saying, "The Next version of XP  will be the greatest thing in the world".  When it comes out, the  new version, looks like the previous version with a few  of improvements, and all the problems that the previous version had, like weather, AI traffic, Clouds, default airports, etc... etc.. My guess is that this new version won't be any different.

Weather really did not change from x-plane 10 days and it's now the biggest overhaul for 12.

AI is established addon wise, Jim Keir (traffic global) was hired to work on ATC.

Default airports...? When was the last time you even tried it?

Seasons, wearher effects, 3d trees (that look and animate much better), 3d water (with physics that work, another aspect I forgot earlier) with different colors using shaders, FMOD 2.0 sounds, a yet to be previewed new scenery...

Yes, they will lag default scenery wise, they do not own bing, but it dwarfs compared to eveyrhing else and is fixable with addons, mostly free ones.

So i'm not sure what about all the above are just small improvements.

For the objective:

Not too impressive screenshots, imho. Brave to post them in an MSFS forum. These illustrate nicely, that we dont miss anything visually when flying MSFS.

Objectively, XP 11 looks like hot garbage if you are flying close to the ground, and it’s not a custom airport.  The only people that aren’t objective (ie. XP 11 fanatics) actually thinks it looks good.

The majority of your pictures were low light situations, or at night.  But the pictures you had where there was sufficient light and it was close enough to the ground, XP 11 looks really bad,

XP 12 may change that, but let’s see when it’s released.

MSFS doesn’t have proper flight modeling for helicopters yet.  But when it does have proper flight modeling for helicopters, MSFS will be a helicopter pilot’s wet dream.  You can fly low to the ground in MSFS and the scenery and graphics look great, for helicopter flying in MSFS.

The default scenery in XP is poor by todays standards, but addon some Orbx scenery and an addon aircraft like the Hot Start TBM 900, Hot start Challenger or many others, you have an excellent simulator.

I spend about 20 hours a week in MSFS and am stunned with what I see and what MS/Asobo have achieved, but I must have missed the indoctrination class that all other simulators must be denigrated at every opportunity.

So please post a video of low altitude flying, like the Seattle video I posted of MSFS, to show me how good you claim XP 11 scenery and graphics can be,

The video should show low altitude flying outside of a custom airport.  It should also be in city flying, just like the Seattle video of MSFS. And if should be in broad daylight, just like the Seattle MSFS video.

Please don’t post cherry picked pictures too. I want to see the FPS as well, something is video will show but a picture won’t. And picture can be cherry picked just for the specific location and lighting. In that Seattle MSFS video I posted, the person flying MSFS did not cherry pick a specific location, they just flew around metro Seattle.

You can pick any city in North America, it doesn’t have to be Seattle.

I ask this because I myself have searched on YouTube for the best XP 11 videos with all the best add-ons, etc.  And for all those XP 11 videos with the best add-ons I found on YouTube, when it’s low level flight over a city, XP 11 looks like hot garbage compared to MSFS.

I'll have a stab at a reply to mtaxp.

Wow, XP12 sure looks like a great improvement over XP11!  As you say, it isn't going to compare to MSFS with default scenery, but should look great with some addon scenery from the likes of Orbx. Being compatible with all existing aircraft in XP11 is a great plus with so many great aircraft available.  MSFS itself looks great and every new month brings advances to the SDK and addons available.  This year promises some amazing advances - the recent video showing propellers being modelled in greater detail is a case in point.

What a great time to be in the flight simulation hobby!

I am not interested in some crazy slinging match of which simulator is best.   You'll have to find somebody else for that.  I'll continue to enjoy both simulators for what each can bring.
