Only left XP out of it as I have never used it. Looking forward to some good releases next year for MSFS......

The problem with topics like these is that a lot of people here...

1. ... feel the need to convince others that they are right and others are wrong...

2. ... feel attacked by every remark that might be (even a bit) negative towards their favored sim (or a bit positive about any other sim).

It's all very human. Unfortunately. I myself can't imagine anyone playing any other sim than MSFS but who am I to argue when someone else simply prefers that other sim? Even if I think the reason is dumb? Everyone is entitled to his or her own preference. Nothing wrong with that. I think that MSFS is the best thing that ever happened to me (when it comes to flight simming, that is)  and I can't imagine ever playing one of the other sims again (I played them all during the last 3 decades or so) but please don't let that stop you from playing FS9 or FUII or P3D or XP or... whatever you want! As long as no one forces me (or anyone else) to use a specific sim... there is no problem, is there?

Converting anyone to 'your' sim won't save any lives and lead that person to heaven so relax, keep it cool, we are only talking about bits and bytes here, a simulation of flying an airplane, pixels on a screen, nothing really worthwhile of earth-shattering. Although of course I do believe that MSFS actually is all that LOL Well, to ME anyway! The flights I had this last weekend, with bugs and all, pre-hotfix, man... it was totally and utterly amazing... But again, feel free to keep on using the sim of your preference. I wish everyone all the best and all the luck and all the happiness they can get. (Yeah, I know it's not christmas yet.)

Completely agree with you.  MSFS is great in many respects, but it could be said it is nowhere near as good as P3D if your aim is to fly a study level jet airliner now.

I have never understood why some people get upset if somebody else either prefers another sim or uses more than one. I am often stunned by MSFS, but it is useless if I want to fly a favourite A2A aircraft.

Just enjoy flight simming!

Dear All,

I have been on XP11 since 2017 and own 100+ addons. I believe I have spent more time tweaking than flying 😉 Still love the XP11.5+ sim though. Bought the MSFS 2020 sim and quite a bunch of add-ons but stopped using it because the Flying Sim is not to the level of XP11.5 in my opinion + it is a nightmare to upgrade. Flying DCS for war planes / heli and love it. Just bought P3D V5 Pro and FR sceneries from FranceVFR + A2A Comanche and Bonanza: best Flight Sim experience ATM in my opinion. Cheers, C

Dear Alone,

We are extremely glad that you took the time to come to the MSFS forum to tell us that you prefer DCS, XP and P3D over MSFS. Very useful to know for us who fly MSFS and love it. But I don't think very reasonable that you came here without a flak jacket.

If you don't mind flying yesterday's sims, I guess that is OK for you. A friend of mine has a CB radio and an 8 track tape player for sale, if you are interested, 😉

Keep and enjoy what you have. But MSFS is clearly the future for flight sims with XP11 being relegated to a Mac/Linux/airplane engineering niche and P3D fading into obscurity in 1 or 2 years.

I use both MSFS and XPlane as a flight sim enthusiast, so your statement is incorrect.  XPlane 11 third party aircraft will be available in XPlane 12 that will also have improved visuals.  XPlane has some amazing aircraft not yet available in MSFS. The Hot Start Bombardier 650 is incredible as are many others.

No doubt as the MSFS SDK develops and opens up many complex aircraft will be released for the platform, but I and many others will continue to use XPlane 11/12 and the products we have purchased for it.

The 'yesterday sims' currently have many of the finest aircraft available in any flight sim.

If you don't mind flying in a world that looks like 1950, I guess that is OK.

When flying the Hot Start TBM 900 over Orbx scenery, it sure doesn't feel like 1950 to me.

I have P3D v4.5 currently, and am curious whether v5 is a better path at this point or would MSFS be a better path.

The past one and a half years have answered this question.

I don't have to buy ORBX scenery to make  MSFS look good, it just does.

I would not call DCS a yesterday's sim (neither XP11.5+ and P3D v5+ btw) 😉 Who believes the FA/18 MSFS rocks like the DCS one tbh?

So what?  You buy addons for MSFS as I do.

For me its easy ...

During the week after work: Preferably MSFS, flying GA short trips.

Weekends:  Preferably P3dv5, flying tubeliners.
