August 28, 20205 yr I've been poking around trying to figure out how to control the display brightness on some of the glass cockpits that don't currently have it, because as a number of folks have complained about they are way too bright at night. I've managed to do this with the TBM for starters. If you look in fs-base-aircraft-common/ModelBehaviorDefs/Asobo/GlassCockpit/AS3000.xml, you will see that a lot of the templates check for a USE_STATIC_SCREEN_EMISSIVE flag in a number of places, and if they see that just set the emission to a flat 0.5. And, sure enough, the interior model definition for the TBM has that scattered throughout. So, here's the dirty fix: edit asobo-aircraft-tbm930/SimObjects/Airplanes/Asobo_TBM930/model/TBM930_interior.xml and delete or comment out all 5 lines that say: <USE_STATIC_SCREEN_EMISSIVE/> Or, just download this gist from my github. Once that's in place, the display brightness is tied to the panel light dimmer in the overhead console. I would very much love to be able to package this, because I hate making tweaks to core files that will be overwritten the next time the sim updates, but I've spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out how to configure a package which will let me overwrite just this one file and failing due to lacking documentation. If anyone has any pointers there they would be most appreciated. Next I'm going to try to tackle the DA62. It doesn't seem to be configured the same way. August 28, 20205 yr Would love to learn more as I want to modify the taxi lights to be brighter on some of the aircraft (of which don’t even illuminate the ground farther than the view from the cockpit.)
August 28, 20205 yr kaosfere, Sent you a PM regarding an alternate way of installing your mod. Dave Edited August 28, 20205 yr by Barnes David Webster AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti @ 3440X1440 | Crucial 2TB M.2 | Win11
August 29, 20205 yr Thanks for the tip, remarked the lines out: \\<USE_STATIC_SCREEN_EMISSIVE/> Did not notice a difference in the screen brightness though. \Robert Hamlich/

It's an XML file, so you need to comment it out using an XML-style comment: <!-- <USE_STATIC_SCREEN_EMISSIVE/> --> But I'm about to upload packaged versions of this and the DA62 fixes made after Barnes pointed me in the right direction! Hang on and you can just install that.
August 29, 20205 yr Author OK, for anyone who hasn't felt like hacking up their files for this (or who did, but might want to return to stock and install this the right way with with the Community folder) I now have this fix installable as a package. You can grab it from here and install it the usual way. I also have a github repo with this fix and the one for the DA62, for anyone who's curious. And again, big ups to @Barnes who pointed me in the right direction for packaging these.

I have had a play around with this. The landing and taxi light are fx files in the Effects Folder. The SDK documents what the parameters are. Such things as distance, intensity, cone size etc. I haven’t spent long on it but I could not find a suitable result. When I achieved the illumination that I felt was realistic in the distance, the light burned with the intensity of a thousand suns close to the aircraft. So even in full daylight the light illuminates the ground close to the aircraft so bright it is totally unrealistic. There is probably a happy medium here for people who spend some time tinkering. August 30, 20205 yr Fantastic! The edit works just fine. Thank you so much for this. \Robert Hamlich/
August 30, 20205 yr I am very thankful for this! And i know i am asking alot, but would it also be possible to connect this to the hot air selector which is located on the left side of the PFD too? The problem i have with connecting it to the dimmer is that all other placards get very dark when i turn down the Screens brightness. I'd prefer to set them separately.
