Question - Which controllers are automatically configured?

Featured Replies

My Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS X was... To an extent. It seems to have assigned a couple of controls to buttons that don't exist, but I've just changed configuration.

All the controllers I use were recognized and automatically configured.

Honeycomb yoke

VirtualFly TQ6+ 6-lever throttle quadrant

Thrustmaster TPR rudder pedals.

I also recently purchased an XBox One controller, mainly for controlling the drone camera, and all those camera assignments were automatically bound.

I know that CH products are not recognized; process of elimination reply.

They do work fine after configuration in the controller configuration screens.

Is it odd or just me the Photo of the Saitek Throttles have the wrong numbers assigned to the buttons?

Ignore this if you're brand new to flight sims, but if you've been flying any of the other contemporary civilian flight sims, it's not a big deal whether the flight controls are automatically configured or not. Because you'll probably end up fighting your way through the horribly designed controller configuration screens to change them to your personal preference anyway.

Honestly, it's why I bailed out of the Alpha test 2/3 of the way through, and didn't try to get into the Beta. I couldn't handle going through all that controller setup again.

My flight controls are recognized in the current release version -- Thrustmaster HOTAS joystick and throttle, and Saitek Combat Pro pedals. But after fussing with what I really WANTED the controls to do for the joystick, I ended up just wiping all the assignments for the throttle quadrant and starting from scratch because it was easier. It's more difficult than it has to be, to clear current default assignments. Which is part of the problem.

Anyway, the point here is that it's nice if your current flight controls are "recognized" and that will be a help to newbies. But that just means a bunch of assignments you may not like if you have deeper experience with other flight sims.

My advice -- Learn how the controls are assigned. Seriously; it's not completely illogical, you just have to learn how Asobo wants you to do it. That's the main thing, so you can figure out how this sometimes baffling control scheme works. Here's a video that can help (h/t Squirrel):

My Logitech Extreme 3D Pro was automatically mapped.

My PC xBox 360ish controller worked out of the box.  It actually works well once I adjust the sensitivity/deadspots.

My replacement extreme pro 3d is in the mail. I am glad to hear it works out of the box as well!

It is funny I have an X-55 HOTAS, CH Rudders and Yoke, Saitek Throttles....and I been using my Extreme Pro 3D almost exclusively.  Its just a good little stick that takes up no space and does the job lol
