September 13, 20205 yr Well i know the purpose of it in real life but whats the purpose of it in MSFS other than being handed off from one controller to the next from time to time? I didn't receive a single traffic information, QNH change or anything relevant when flying cross country since release. I see it as a revamped version (with a new UI) of the crappy FSX ATC: it was already bad in the mid 2000s. But don't worry: just prepare your credit card for when a third party developer comes to finish MS job. September 13, 20205 yr Hi, Pilot2atc is a really good and ready add-on for atc which is already working with MFS2020 via FSUIPC7. Moving map, speech recognition, flight planning, regional atc controllers accent, etc. are the key functions. You can try it for freee, as well. Happy flying. I agree and it can be used in the other great sims as well at no additional charge. September 13, 20205 yr I was using flight following today for only a short while and was given a traffic notification.

It actually also helps for inadvertent airspace penetration (pilot deviation etc.), and in missing A/C response and for LKP probability model. Not so much in the sim however 🙂 Edited September 13, 20205 yr by Flyfaster SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

Charts, charts, and charts. . .elctronic or paper and of course your situational awareness. In the UK we have a rule for PPLs - "2 and 2" - stay at least 2 miles away from restricted space and at least 200' above or below the mins and maxs - whichever is the preferred for your flight. Having said that they're a pretty relaxed bunch who'll readily grant a transit and - as you probably already know - you can pre-book a Transit before you take off; Having said that - since the plague it's reverted back to AIP ENR 1.1 section 4.1. And yup, you've guessed it - it's not straight forward anymore.
September 13, 20205 yr The purpose of flight following is to make your ears bleed from listening to the ugly, robotic ATC voice. Seriously, I feel like MSFS 2020' ATC is the worst in terms of accuracy and quality. In older FS sims and P3D, you had at least a variety of male/female voices, and they sounded pretty good. Am I the only one who is disgusted by the controller's ATC voice in the newest sim?
September 13, 20205 yr Don't mind the voice, but having had about a dozen rapid-fire instructions to descend to 5 different FLs in about a minute (despite acknowledgment and reasonable descent speed) I am just about fed up with ATC. Easier not to bother than to spend all your time dealing with what feels like spam messages. I think FSX was better. Paul Skol
September 13, 20205 yr Moderator So, you guys preferred the S L O W, laconic and extremely robotic FSX/P3D ATC? Editvoicepak would speed it up until it was somewhat faster, but not quite natural even so, all IMHO of course. Fr.
