I wonder if Bob Larsen ever imagined just how true this would turn out, and how many developers and IT professionals got started into computers and development out of their childhood love for video games.  I know, I'm one of them.

I just wanted a month for 1€ to try the sim, got in and immediately disabled automatic payment. Then bought the standard version when it was over.

Sounds like a good plan.

Unfortunately I got a bit snookered and upgraded to Premium Deluxe within the storefront which stops working unless I keep Game Pass or purchase the standard edition somewhere down the line.  But since I plan to get a Series X my GF doesn't buy me one for Christmas 🤞, I'm planning to keep Game Pass Ultimate for quite some time so I'll only lose out when I actually cancel Game Pass, and by that time, MSFS standard should have gone on sale making it a wash.

I am a GP user but once the price rises I'll bin it. I'll probably then buy MSFS on Steam.  Does anyone know: will I be able to keep all my settings, which are stored in the Cloud, if I move from MSGP to Steam?  Not the end of the world, if not, but would be nice.

Could someone explain how this game pass thing works? Have I got it right?:

  1. Buy a pass for trial period at £1/$1 for a month
  2. Grab MSFS
  3. If you dont like it, return & cancel game pass before trial ends
  4. If you want to keep it  - pay full amount at MS store & cancel game pass before trial ends.

If you pay for a month it will not renew unless you pay, it will prompt you it`s due no pay no play.

If you want to be able to play it on Xbox in addition to PC, then  get the MS store version. If that doesn't appeal to you then get the Steam version.

In the past, controllers like T-flight X Hotas worked on Xbox and PC. They probably still will on the new Xbox.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

The 2 hardbacks in the slip case weighed 17 pounds on our bathroom scales. 3000+ daily cartoons, every single Far Side that were in the newspapers for 25 years or so.

Correct, done that way.

Cancelling the 1 buck trial BEFORE it ends also grants refund of that 1 €, at least for MS Store Italy.

It was always meant to be priced at $10/month when out of Beta phase, they didn't decide to increase the price just now (which would still be justified considering they're adding EA Play to the mix). If you're looking to try out the simulator and a few other games the service offers, it's still a great value.

Something here does not make sense. A program can be in beta and then release but how can a subscription service be in beta ? When it get out of beta in what way has it improved ?

Except for testing the infrastructures and the way it interacts with the Microsoft Store and account, I'm not really sure but this is how they called it. Once the beta period ends, EA Play is also part of the service, giving you access to a lot more games published by EA.

Thanks, was just curious and now I understand. When the time comes I'll get MSFS on Steam since all my other games are on that platform as well.
