REX Weather Force 2020 for Microsoft's Flight Simulator

So REX ruins the advances made by Asobo? 🤔

So no longer do we have different weather systems, visible to the horizon, instead it's back to the FSX/P3D days of a single global weather system, with visually jarring weather reloads? 🤔

If this is true then how can anyone seriously think this is better than what Asobo has achieved?

I notice the REX guy fails to respond to this, despite being asked several times. 🤦‍♂️

You are right. I am back to MSFS' own weather engine. I really like the depiction of the weather REX has to offer but the way it is injected is a real drawback.

Yes, nothing new. This was and is still the case of their REX SF3D and his weather injection in P3D.

I am glad you folks watching the video closely and see wich things still are lagging and these things are the ones REX is selling on their "addon".

Till now I thought I am the only one who is "nervewracking" asking what the benefit of this product is and how it will behave within the sim.

Does somebody know if the REX Weather Force is related to the MSFS Version of the sim? I mean, if ASOBO is updating the sim to a newer version, is REX Weather Force running or do they MUST update their product even if ASOBO di not make any weather related changes? Because I am still waiting on REX to update REX SF3D, REX WWA and REXEF for the other plattform (more than a half year already).

To me the video, from Jeff who is speaking a clear regional accent by the way (;-))  is a real help for not buying the product.

Weather looks like word not allowed. Flat FSX clouds for overcast 360 degrees as far as the eye can see. No variation on cloud formation at all! Looks increadibly drab and booring and unrealistisc. Suddenly feel like im back in fsx. The baro wasn't setting correctly on the ground, and the ui was bugged not showing the metar info in the boxes  (wind, temp, etc).

I just watch some of Luna's videos and I'm pretty much sold. I have one question for those who do NOT have the MFS "Live Weather" bug. Does live weather work the same way that REX WF seems to be working? I honestly have not been able to do one "live weather" flight so I can't compare.

Seeing the video of Jeff Fav, I wonder how much did REX pay him ?

he said he bought it. Why would he lie?

His video is clearly biased towards REX and he didn't even properly compare to the default sim, plus he is downplaying every bug he gets with REX

Why didn't he bother restarting MSFS to get rid of the weather bug and compare to the other airports ? No comparison of wind either ! from what I saw on the video the wind depiction on REX is very bad, there is no interpolation of wind between 2k feet and 5k feet plus he had to update to get the wind at 5k. The video is a joke, just like the addon

Seriously, please stay objective on judging the addon with facts. Thanks

The baro is something we are investigating. Please post come images or contact support if you have any issues.

Guys, I'm sold on this add-on. Right now I can't really enjoy and IFR flight because live weather is not properly depicted in MSFS 2020. However, REX WF puts us closer to realistic IFR flights. Dynamic weather is what I'm missing on this sim. The MSFS theme are beautiful, but nothing beats what I'm seeing with REX WF.

I need a full flight video showing transitioning weather, please!

  • Does the interpolation between the wind layers being abrubt (plane shaking unrealistic heavy) or is the transition smooth at its current status of the product?
  • Is the Addon related to the SIM Version or can it be used and started even if MSFS got updated (assuming no changes made wich affect your addon)
  • Does the addon has issues with automaticly injecting the different weather? As it seems user have to manually resync the eather?

Answers would be kind!

And also I am really struggling to know what does it mean they built their "own sdk"? Looking at the hifi forums answer there, for what I understood, REX has figured out sort of hack that actually Asobo doesn't want to developers to use due to stability reasons. Asobo could actually lock this hole for good by disabling this mysterious hole in simconnect in order to prevent any developers to use this in the future. It could be exactly like what LR did in X-Plane 11.5 by locking the shaders and private controls from third party developers and modders as to be honest, I recall Ben from LR used to warn third party developers and users not to mess around with the shaders and private sim variables and as the results, they locked these for good in XP11.5.

If there is an evidence that REX has really used a hack that could be potentially be locked in the future by Asobo that would be unfortunate. I would have wished if REX has worked with Asobo on finding a common approach that could help other third party developers as well like Hifi.

It uses a smoothing algorithm to change weather, wind, clouds and all variables without instant impact on injection.

The product should update itself automatically with the sim update.

The addon should pick up the weather and inject it, as soon as the servers tell the addon needs an update.

Thanks
