Then immediately, with out knowing that that was a lie, they snubbed you? This whole situation sounds fishy. The other pilots were Navy not Air Force. Not arguing that at all. Nor am I saying it’s not highly probable. i just find it odd to put out a post about being shunned at a party all the while he was lying. IMO sounds a bit disingenuous at best. I’m just tying to find out the timeline and events so I can have the entire story. Ya know....that critical thinking stuff... All in all, giving him the benefit of the doubt. it sucks that these other men actually looked down on him if they truly thought he was beneath them because of the airplane he supposedly flew. Talk about a bunch of tools.....pilots can be some of the most childish and sophomoric people on the planet. I’m sure chilling with the women was a better experience anyways. October 4, 20205 yr I once cut my finger on an F 104. Okay, I didnt actually, but saw one at the Coventry air museum in UK, and boy, the leading edge is sharp.

The base itself was turned over to either San Rafael or Marin County and turned into housing, some of it low cost housing. The hangars were sold to whomever wanted them. I know one of them was sold to Disney and another to Lucas, but I don't know if they are still there. The TV show Myth Busters had one also. The runways and taxiways were torn up and the concrete disposed of somewhere. The land was turned back into wetland. Several years ago my brother was renting an apartment in one of the barracks that had been renovated into apartments. It was the same barracks building that the squadron I was assigned to was housed. October 6, 20205 yr I wouldn't feel bad being left to the ladies. Although, those Navy guys should have realized the only professional difference was what you each operated from. Being an old sailor myself I have wondered if any Air Force pilots ever carrier qual??
October 6, 20205 yr Yes they have Gary. During the Korean (and possibly the Vietnam ) War there was an exchange pilot program. Navy and Marine pilots would fly with Air Force Squadrons and Air Force pilots would fly Navy aircraft off carriers. I read once where on one cruise and Air Force pilot won the three-wire pool. John Glen flew F-86s with an Air Force squadron in Korea during the pilot exchange program . His crew chief named his aircraft Mig Mad Marine. Glen sot down 3 North Korean Migs during his tour with the fighter squadron. A number of Air Force pilots qualified in the EA-6Bs when that aircraft became the only electronic warfare fighter left in the inventory after the F-111s were phased out. In fact some of the Navy EA-6Bs had all Air Force crews. After the EA-6Bs were replaced by EF-18s some Air Force pilots got carrier qualified in those. October 7, 20205 yr This brings to mind a coworker of mine who is former Airforce. We bust on each other in fun as Vets do. I would say " Navy pilots are the best because they land on small moving runways". He says " Both space shuttle disasters had Navy pilots. They can land on boats but not the planet. An A-10 pilot would have saved those shuttles". We laugh. I honor all members of U.S. Forces.
