Realsimgear now compatible with FS2020

Recommended Posts

Now,  How good is the default G1000/G3000? Is it worthy of this nice hardware or should we wait until they improve the default Gx000?

Realsimgear seems like an awesome hardware wi=hich is reasonably priced... But there are no software as yet worthy of this hardware in MSFS2020. The default Gx000 is word not allowed! sorry!

Never used their equipment, but I've been keeping my eyes on the G1000 set ups.  So it pulls the PFD/MFD from the game?  My question is - if I am running mods to the G1000, will those features show up in the real sim gear, does it break it, etc?

Remember it just mirrors your current instruments in their panel’s you actually drag the G1000 on the panel you’re about to use as far as any mods working correctly with the actual knobs that im not sure of since i dont own anything yet just been keeping and eye on and currently watching all the videos coming up online about this .

I'm thinking that is best way for it to function.  While you don't get added functionality, it should create less problems back to the sim - plus whatever is on screen in sim shows up on the gear.  Thanks for the info!

I’m close to pulling the trigger on the GNS530, but before I do I wanted to see if anyone has theirs working with the Carenado Mooney?  I was looking at the RSG website and they said no third party aircraft are currently supported in FS2020.  I think the Carenado Mooney uses the default GNS530 so it would make sense that it could, but I saw on the RSG website that their installer finds and installs something in each aircraft that it works with so I’m thinking it may not find and install whatever it needs to do into the Mooney?

Side note, I’m thinking just the 530, but I’m wondering if there’s much benefit to having both the 530 and 430?

Thanks

I was also considering the 530 for the Mooney. I'm glad you brought this up and would also like to know the answer.

I just bought the Mooney, and I already have the RealSimGear GNS430 and GNS530. Sadly, the RSG530 does not drive the Carenado GNS530, though I don't think it will be too hard to make it work. I'll check it over the next few days and see if I can get the two to work together. I'll keep you posted.

I do have both GNS's, and it is great using both together. I have been using them in P3D, X-Plane, and now MSFS with no problems at all. In this sim, the two work great together in the steam gauge C172. They will cross-fill, so you can have different displays on each. When you decide to get one, or both, be sure you have the necessary cables to hook them up, as they don't come with the cables. I found that out the hard way. They are an awesome addition to my sim setup. If you need help setting them up, I will be happy to help.

A phone or iPad App (coupled with a bezel) is generally a more effective solution when compared to these HDMI-driven utilities that, not only have compatibility issues, but also end up taking much more resources than needed.

Currently using the G1000 PFD App for iPad and it works great with all MSFS aircraft, including the Mooney (even though I won't use it with it).

Can you clarify what works on the G1000? From what I’ve seen, AP is fully supported by MSFS through the API but none of the G1000 functions like soft keys, knobs, or push buttons are available through the API.

I bought the RealSimGear GNS's to help me get more familiar with the real world units that are in the plane I've been flying lately. The RSG units are exact duplicates of the real ones, and coupled with RealityXP GNS's, I am able to practice almost the entire functionality of the real units. I don't fly much of anything that has the newer Garmins such as the G1000. I intend to build a SimPit someday soon, and these RSG units, I feel, look so much better. I'll look into your suggestion though, and see if it suites me. Thank you for your suggestion.

Thanks, I’ll look forward to see what you’re able to do.  I emailed RSG last night and got a quick response, they said “Third party support for MSFS unfortunately lies with the third party software developers, and not us.  I would encourage you to get in touch with the developers and ask them that question - hopefully that will help them get going on it!”.  I’m not sure if that means they’re unwilling or unable, but given that Carenado uses the default GNS I would think it should be possible.

Given that the built in GNS and G1000 are likely to be used by a lot of third party developers (and they’re getting more capable all the time thanks to the modding community) hopefully it’s something the end user can set up fairly easily rather than us having to depend on the developers.  In my experience relying on 3PD to accommodate rather niche hardware can be hit or miss.

I emailed Carenado to see if they would consider integrating their aircraft with the RSG hardware, their response was: "It is not on our nearest plans, however, it is not off the table.".  So my read on that is don't hold your breath and if there's going to be a way for this to work, it will likely have to come from the end users.

I have to say, I find it odd that RSG wouldn't be willing to try and support third party aircraft that use the default GNS system.  If they have been able to do it for default aircraft, why not third party aircraft?  Are they more difficult somehow?  Obviously I don't have in depth knowledge of how this works and I accept that it might be more complicated than it seems, but they would certainly have a lot more to gain from doing this (ie a sale to me) than Carenado would.

Thanks for that, what cables are needed?

Each unit requires an HDMI cable, a USB cable, and the 530 requires a power adapter. The power adapter is included with the 530. The 430 gets its power through the USB cable. I don't remember for sure, but I think they come with their own USB cable. It is just the HDMI cable you have to get separately. I got mine through Amazon at $9.00 for a pair of HDMI cables.

I haven't yet had a chance to work with MSFS to see if I can get it to work with my GNS's, but I am off tomorrow and friday, so I'll fiddle with them then.

Thanks for the info and I look forward to seeing what you can figure out.

I’ve been having some back and forth with customer support at RSG trying to figure out why they can support the default aircraft/gps but not an addon aircraft using the same default gps.  She’s going to send my question over to their technical team to look at.  I think she misunderstood my initial question to be more about third party GPS integration (ie rxp) rather than third party aircraft with a default GPS so maybe there will be something that comes of that.
