October 17, 20205 yr What SSAA does is render the 3D image at a higher resolution and then downscale it to your output resolution. Resolution scaling and DSR from the NVIDIA Control Panel are effectively the same thing, but you get finer control with the resolution scaling slider. It is important to mention though that all these methods are the same as OGSSAA, which is a brute-force approach. The older RGSSAA and SGSSAA yielded much higher image quality, but stopped working since DirectX 10.

If Prepar3D goes up to 8x SSAA and there's no resolution scaling slider, then DSR is the only way, with the 4.00x setting.
October 17, 20205 yr Here's what 4k Ultra Preset with Render Scaling set to 200 looks like. Performance drop is significant. Brought me down to about 12fps, but looks amazing. This is with the Flybywire A320 mod at night with OrbX EGLC, OrbX London City Landmarks. Although it looks very nice, I think I'll just leave mines at 100-130 depending where I fly. I'd like to have my fps at 30 fps at least. October 17, 20205 yr P3D does have 8xSSAA put no scaling slider. So as you point out, 4K set to +200 render scale might add SSAA but up scaling it up to 8k also at the same time. No wonder it kills FPS and VRAM. David Murden. Since you're rendering at 8K the performance drop was only to be expected, but just as I guessed, the output is very sharp and it brings out some aliasing that should be avoided if you look closely. However, this could also be caused by the sharpening filter which was boosted with the 1.9.3.0 patch, evident by some of the halo ringing. If you could try again by turning the filter off from the UserCfg.opt file, the output would likely be smoother but retain enough clarity due to the sheer amount of pixels.

What filter are you referring to? I will give it a try. I have lowered my rendering scale back to 100% because I get better performance this way.
