What do you use to take screenshots?

Recommended Posts

I was using ShareX but on my new PC I cannot get it to work with MSFS in full screen mod.

It seems to not be able to take full screen games, it did on by old PC, but never mind, I have found I can use windows key+PRT SCN to take, that might do, but open to ideas.

I don't want to record just take PNG screen shots.

Lightscreen is the best I have found by far.  Free and fully configurable.  👍

Takes full screen, and is easy to set up.

Pick a picture type (.png .jpg etc.).

Pick a screenshot button (I just keep PrtScn).

Pick a folder to store them in.

It saves multiple files consecutively, so take as many shots as you want over multiple sessions - it won't overwrite.  e.g. screenshot1.png, screenshot2.png...

It has many other features.

I don't know why people are using anything else really. 🙂

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I use the Steam F12 shortcut. Obviously only works in the Steam version.

Kind regards, Michael

I use NVIDIA GeForce Experience - pointing to a folder on my Dropbox, so screens are immediately available on all devices.

Gadwin Print Screen. There's a free and a paid version. The free version is fine.

Same here, with this you can take as many shots as you want then go to the steam folder and do what you please with them.

I simultaneously hold down the Windows key, shift key, and S key.  Then I drag the mouse across the desired area.  Takes about two seconds.  If I am running a hi-res screen I first reduce the size of the app from which I am capturing, or reduce the web page magnification by hitting Ctrl - a few times.  Otherwise the image is too many pixels to post.

I like this method too....as it snaps the shots with the custom Nvidia filter's I've applied to the sim....so they look like this after a quick run thru PSP to restore the detail loss heavy jpeg compression does to a pic:
