I do this on my 1080Ti. Voltage set to 90% but at stock frequency.  No more CTD's since.

Holds 30fps (locked in RTSS) in the main at 1440k and 120% scaling, but now runs at 76C instead of 84C (which is the throttling limit on mine I think).  Quieter also. 🙂

what you did is trigg the Vrel , nvida boost the FRQ it have someting named Pert Cap Reason, PWR ,Thrm , Vrel, Vop , what you did was decrease the boost FRQ

LIke what?  I dont have an SSD and it takes about 15 seconds for me to get to the press any key screen ?

What!? Wow! I'm a bit jealous 😉  I have MSFS installed on an NVMe SSD, running it on a Ryzen 3900X with 32GB of RAM, and the "press any key" screen takes 50-60 seconds to appear, after pressing a key it takes another 50-60 seconds. And that's with the start-up videos turned off, and without any add-ons installed.

It's not terribly annoying to me, but I know that some users with less powerful systems  take between 5 and 10 minutes to start MSFS, so it's definitely a weird design decision, at least on a PC. I know that for consoles there are other things to consider, such as the maximum allowed load time until the first user interaction etc...

And yeah, the SSD doesn't help much for a faster startup, it's mostly the single-thread performance of the CPU that limits the load time.

My simming system: AMD Ryzen 5800X3D, 32GB RAM, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, LG 38" 3840x1600

Loading times depend on the amount of mods that you have in the community folders. Those big files cause a long pause on the black screen with the ASOBO disclaimer. I had to remove all non essential mods (ORBX) lager file airports in order to significantly speed up to the "press any key" to continue.

Your perception of "about 15 seconds" is rather interesting - in fact completely unbelievable. Show us your system specs and a screen recording proving your statement, please.

My specs are below, 34 seconds with an empty Community folder and 39 seconds with a few essential mods in there.

Yes.  I have the same M.2 drive, a fast 6(12) core processor at 5.1 Ghz, and my times are virtually identical to yours (as I would expect).  The 970 Evo is about the fastest there is, so I can't believe anybody can be much quicker than this to the press any key screen.  Maybe just a joke or throw-away remark.  It is the cat after all!  😄

I would not want to be your PC! 🙂

Even in the menu, my PC's fans are spinning, keeping things cool. Keeping the machine under "stress" 24/7 is bound to have negative repercussions somewhere down the line. Out of interest which Nvidia driver version are you running?

That Nvidia driver that was released on launch day or MSFS. Most of the time, it just the Main Menu sitting there. I'm not a computer tech or doctor, although I play both on TV, NOT. I just know it works for me, and temp's appear fine. My PC is like my car, start it and go. I am a consumer, turn PC on, play game.  And since it was prebuilt, and have an extended warranty, I'll deal with it at that point. Now if the fans stop cooling, call company use extended warranty, also.

Kind of funny if you think about it, since my screen name is, in2tech 🙂 Am I really? Just means I enjoy tech, doesn't mean I now anything about it 🙂

BTW, to watch TV, turn on power button, tune to channel, and watch. Easy Peasy!  BTW, I am joking about most of this, or am I?

For those comparing "15 second" (lol) startup times to get to the "press any key" page make sure you are timing at cold start from a freshly rebooted computer.   It may be much faster on subsequent loads due to caching.
