@GotGravel has worked very hard on taking an idea that would cost tens of thousands to modify and create IRL, and bring it to MSFS. The XCub is a good Bush Plane- this one goes in the minimalist direction- strips weight and has an even better wing loading and power to weight ratio. To explore the backwoods of Montana, Idaho, SAK or anywhere- this is my go-to.

Want to land on a too short sandbar? Thanks to Gravel’s hard work, you will soon be able to touch down on the water and run her up on land. Just approach below 60Kias, drop one notch. Then slow to 45 for Flap 2. Ease in 100 rpm just prior to a soft touchdown and you can trundle up to the beach and cut throttle on land- presto! Once you explore the backside of the power curve, you will find that for the VAST MAJORITY of flying you will never need more than 5000rpm out of the Rotax. It’s only when low and very slow, or when BLASTING out of that short sandbar, that you will need to push the throttle further forward. I appreciate the “stunt” videos, however, what this aeroplane successfully recreates at lesser power settings, is the feeling I had at 1500agl, with my right hand on the stick, and my left elbow in the slipstream. Then it can do stuff my old Champ just dreamed of. The power and Flap 3 are there to get you in and out of places you wouldn’t or couldn’t go before, not just for unrealistic flight. Once Asobo creates a real SDK with yaw, dihedral and particle effects, we’ll really be in for a treat. For all the hours and days of work, I’m obliged!

If you haven’t tried her- please do- you won’t regret it. If you love her, as I do, please remember that such development deserves tangible appreciation.

It's no good...  you can't hide them Cav!   We all know what's under the water!  😁

Yes...  Mermaids - you gotta love 'em!  😄

PS. This will be brilliant and open up another dimension in the sim.  👍

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Hiya Bob!  Yep, you found @GotGravel 's secret- Mermaids 🙂

Here I am doing some more testing in Sitka (PASI) the perfect place to check out and report on the mod, while running those WIDER and more aggressive wheels up on the beach, after touching down in the bay...

I am so excited for this.

Almost there guys...just a little bit more testing and tuning! We want to get this thing right.

Hey guys! Gravel here, creator of the Savage Carbon. And hi Kaos and Carl! Good to see you two gentlemen here 😉

Interesting question...can a real cub do this? Not a factory standard one. But...the Savage Carbon only contains mods that are available in the real world too. 165HP engine from Edge Performance? Check. STOL optimized 82" prop? Check. 29" Bushwheels? You get the idea.

So even though this aircraft is truckloads of fun, I strive above all to let it be a realistic bush plane. This is verified all the time by two seasoned test pilots (Carl being one of them).

So yeah, you should be able to pull this move. Absolutely not recommended, discouraged even, in real life of course!

The next release v1.1.1 is incoming, will add water skiing to the mix...bring out your fishing gear!

Hey Gravel, what are the chances of you adding some floats to this baby? I can't think of a single thing that you can do (with you clothes on) to have more fun than getting your SES rating .  Maybe adding that 3 bladed prop would just be gravy.

Ray

Ah those floats...and 3 bladed props...much desired by many. For now this is outside my scope / skillset / time-budget as this requires 3D modelling / texture design and currently the Asobo SDK / documentation is lacking a lot too (they're working on improving this). It is on my list though, but most certainly no promise here.

Nice Savage by the way!

Hope springs eternal. Thanks.

+1 for Floats.

Thanks for this great mod, which is getting better and better.

That's alright.  Don't rush it Grav!  What you have done up to now has been superb quality.  👍
