November 15, 20205 yr I really like the way I've got P3Dv5.1 running now, but NEVER with that EA (TrueSky BS). EA destroys colors and lighting, and yes I hear the "wait until the next update" but in reality I've seen their futile attempts to make TrueSky work since they introduced it in v5.0... they key trying but really not much LM can do, they made the decision to base the quality of their product on a third-party developer that doesn't have anything to loose if they can't fix it for LM. LM can live with that I guess. Dan Downs KCRP

I do not make cherry picked screenshots, I simply pause in a flight and make a screenshot. Not a setup situation as you suggest.... I do however use my anti-grid tweak as I posted in another thread. November 15, 20205 yr CTD's that I never had before are suddenly started happening!!! Sound goes down and Sim just shuts down....So not sure if anyone can confirm if it could be issue with sound (?!) and how to solve this. But as far as I can see, based on performance this is not good. For lack of better words. EA I won't even discuss here because is unrealistic and miles away from 4.5 looks, so now it's some performance issue and lighting that we have to solve it seems. I am not sure if is sound related but prior to CTD i lose sound and than just shut down. I read somewhere that might be sound driver isue. But not sure. Now I repaired all three to see what happens next. Alex

November 15, 20205 yr @SAS443 All your "issues" go away when you turn EA off and just use AS or another weather program with the sim. EA is not ready for us yet. Who knows when it will be. Enjoy the sim without EA. It really is possible. Edited November 16, 20205 yr by Ray Proudfoot Removed linked post as unnecessary to quote in full.
November 16, 20205 yr Check that you don't have multiple sound devices active--this is very common now with the HD sound device on the nVidia GPUs. Every time you update the driver, you should check that the nVIdia HD Audio device is disabled in Device Manager, as the driver installation will, by default, enable it again. The nVidia HD Audio device services the audio that feeds through the HDMI channel from the graphics card. It's superfluous unless you happen to be running programming to a TV using HDMI audio+video, which is probably not too common, even with folks that use 4K TVs as large-format computer displays. I had a number of problems with instability a while back, and after seeing something Rob Ainscough posted about conflicts related to this I started paying more attention to this issue, and I've not seen a sound device related problem since I started keeping the nVidia HD Audio disabled. I am a little bit concerned, that LM will not raise the bar high enough to satisfy most of us. Like with NvidiaWaveworks for water and like speedtrees for all sorts of flora (yes it is for: trees, grass, bushes, etc.). I really hope they will nail it now with HF1 on V5.1. Because 7 months is a lot of time compared to their iterations of regular updates (6 months V5.X and most of the time 2 years for VX.X). More than 25% of the time is passed.... I understand it takes time, yes. And they have done a lot under the hood for sure. I do also appreciate this. But they SOLD truesky with V5.0 back in april........they sold maybe "....sky" but not "TRUE...sky". Marcus Regards, Marcus P.

November 16, 20205 yr Again, what's your point? We can all take nice EA screenshots once in a while. That doesn't cure the awful dusk and dawn colors, common cloud pixelation and so on and on. Edited November 16, 20205 yr by flycln

But as soon as we have OVC (which is very common during fall in sweden with warm most air masses from the ocean moves over colder ground surface and creates a OVC-lid that can stay for weeks) my simulator looks like a potato and trees/airport buildings shimmer with the background cloudscape. Just watch how EFHK tower/terminal buidings are rendered during my final approach. It is a farce with EA on. 4:00mins into the clip. November 16, 20205 yr ...and another point on the list is the usual simmer has 8GB max Vram which is limiting EA use a lot. Shots with a 3090 are not the spread base. I'm a day one v5 user but EA is limited to GA flying in rural areas. Even with EA off the enhanced lighting and performance paired with AS and the usual rest is enough for me to stay happy on v5.1 😉 Cheers Thorsten
