November 24, 20205 yr I set historical time to 14:00 UTC and its now blizzard like and plenty of snow falling. Will let it sit and see if any accumulation happens. But refreshing the weather(at least clouds) suddenly stopped in my case. They abruptly disappeared and never came back. Although it worked fine prior in the same flight from LMML to LXGB. Fading in and out I did see....but only once each. EA has honestly his "long haul" issues..... 😉 For Details see here at HiFi Support: https://forums.hifisimtech.com/threads/loosing-clouds-with-asp3d-7633-rc3-at-p3d-v5-1hf1.13380/ Edited November 24, 20205 yr by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.

November 24, 20205 yr Just now, ark said: Do you mean the Enhanced Atmospherics check box? I don't see a Disable EA volumetric cloud control check box -- where is that? Al In ASP3D, under simulator depiction options. Default is unchecked. I now have it checked, allowing VM.cfg to be managed by P3D and all seems to be working fine. November 24, 20205 yr I honestly can not get used to this. It is too much. Here ASP3D handles the volumetriccloud.cfg. P3Dv5.1HF1 ASP3D 7633 RC3 FL 350 Overcast conditions Cloudset to High at Ultra it is not better 4K Monitor #grid #pixelmess #objectmess #2stepsbackoneforward #whathaveyoudoneLM? Due the open grid also objects shining through clouds again. BTW.: Stock P3D Autogen. I uninstalled ORBX Building HD to look if stock is better......but obviously not. This really kills immersion I am trying to get used to it....but I can´t...... 😞 Edited November 24, 20205 yr by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.

I am so disappointed by the same graphical output in my sim. This is a blemish, annoying pimple on the forehead in the otherwise handsome EA-feature... November 24, 20205 yr We'll have to resort to using the old clouds while they navigate through this. November 24, 20205 yr I dont have this. The ugly cloud grid when Im at FL 350 (and up), yes off course. I hope LM will fix it, but at low level the transitions are fine. Also clouds and structure with low vis in c heavy fog. Regards Michael

And if you stay in the cockpit you hardly notice any cloud grids because you can't look straight down. 😉 I get your frustration with the grids in outside view but I honestly just go back inside the cockpit and enjoy the view from there instead, for the time being. November 24, 20205 yr It's been a bumpy ride with EA enabled since 5.1 HF1, and as much as I'm trying to like the new lighting improvements from EA, the clouds are just unbearable to me. I guess I'll go back to normal skies... I remain hopeful LM will fix this in 5.2. Enrique Vaamonde
November 24, 20205 yr My problems with snow have been since V5.0, not just unique to this hotfix. I am having the very same problem with rain. Most of the time with EA on I don't see rain. Turn off ea and suddenly it's raining. It's frustrating. I use active sky and asca. But asca shouldn't matter as it doesn't influence eA on. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

This is really nonsense! Of course do pilots scan the surroundings. It is also visible within cockpits. Of course less. But the grid (raster texture plates - shelves) are very noticeable when near the clouds or just above them and looking left or right. No need to look down to see those "shelves" (grid 😉 ) I can not understand that there are people who accept this as "normal". It is not. This is the lack of: Truesky or Right/proper Truesky implementation or A product that does not really fits within a Simulator like P3D because performancewise not compatible with moderate settings in P3D Please spare me such feedback. We pay for products and features and we may expect something which fits the present graphical standard. I do not expect MSFS graphics at all. But this is way worse compared to visuals of the prior 2D clouds within P3D (I am not talking about rotation with 2d clouds, that is the downside of 2d sprides). This what you see is simple not volumetric (...enough). Because the noise would fill the gabs. But they had to turn the grid so "wide" that big gabs occur. This is more performance friendly but ugly too. In tested a lots of volumemetriccloud.cfg settings (these from the pictures where stock P3D and also ASP3D). You can reduce the grid a lot but then performance goes down the drain (more than 100% less). Of course I could only try with the parameters LM offered us to play with. So don´t tell me this is my "frustration" or "false thoughts about immersion". This is a quick and dirty implemented feature from LM with a partner Simul and seems to have a lot of downsides too (at least at the moment). Read the documentation. Look all of their videos and tutorials and you would understand what theoretical is possible. I did that all. And that is exactly the point: If a company like LM has time pressure and looks for optimization parts like with truesky, they probably had not much time to setup a proof of concept. I assume! If you look at Truesky in theory and from videos and tutorials, it looks so nice and much better too. But that does not help. If LM implements it and it seems a performance killer as soon as you try it out to get near to "beautiful looks", than you know this gets tough. But LM did not only change truesky. They did DX12 and nvidiawaveworks too. 3 main components (=variables. All new and never bin there matched together in one simulator). This can get a nasty taste. Must not be, but can. They did not change 1 and than another part. They changed major parts in one release. That had to be done due MSFS announcement I think. But it has its risk and/or downside. I think exactly that happened. And I am talking from my project experiences where I see lots of analysis without PoC and proper preparations (SAP, SAP 4HANA, CRM Salesforce, Bullhorn Recruitment, etc....). After the concept/blueprint comes the practical part........ Mostly a lot can be solved...but at a high price which not everyone is willing to pay (here LM). because we bought the product already "half baked".
