LEMD VRAM usage comparison

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone who owns both LEMD versions (LatinVFR and Sim-wings) compare the VRAM consumption?

With LatinVFR I reach almost 9GB out of 9.9 (and this is with the non-PBR version) so I may move to Sim-wings if the VRAM consumption there is significantly lower.

Edit: this is on a 4K using SSAAx2 with EA on, 2048 textures and shadows on medium.

LatinVFR have terrible optimization and they've moved on to MSFS. I personally have not installed any of their stuff in 5.1. They are another 3PD I've tossed in the proverbial trash.

They offer some of the best support out there.  Period.  I really like their scenery.  Is it high VRAM?  You bet.  But that's not a problem for me.  They have put out a good amount of scenery for P3D the last year or so.

You apparently have a 3090 so yeah of course it's not an issue for you, lol.

For most people, LVFR's VRAM usage is *insane* compared to their peers.

LVFR blames LM on all VRAM issues, they are not interested in optimizing the scenery and with v5 it got worse, which makes them 2nd tier to the leaders in the scenery space.  I like them because they did KMIA, but KMIA, LEMD and SCEL are VRAM monsters and it takes all the fun from flying there.

Just in case you don't want to downgrade to 1024 textures (which is the only way of using KFLL, LEMD and KMIA without crashing or buying a 3090), LatinVFR provides a non-PBR version of those sceneries which help reduce VRAM consumption while keeping 2048.

Hope this helps.

I get what you guys are saying.  Yes I don't have to worry about the vram anymore.  Even when I had a 1080ti I was able to make it work.  But it wasn't comfortable having to monitor it so closely.  I'll also say it's really their newer sceneries that are the highest.  I never had any issues in BWI/RDU/SNA/TXKF/EYW/MHRO/RSW

Yes that's what I wrote - I'm using 2048 with the non-PBR version.

Can anyone who owns Sim-wings compare?

Thank you

Simwings is much more performant and so far no Vram issues with PBR Textures on 2048. Comparable with LEIB and Lepa. Regards

you're right, I missed that! sorry. I will test again with the non-PBR version and compare results... I remember seen better VRAM usage compared to the PBR version.

Take a look here: https://www.simflight.de/review-sim-wings-madrid-barajas-p3d/

Its in German but you can use an online translator. The review is well detailed in its assessment. I am not sure you will find a lot of people that have both and can make a head-to-head comparison.

I'm actually looking for a comparison with the Sim-wings version, I tested the non-PBR and it indeed consumed less but still high (~9 GB).

I'm happy with the LatinVFR looks the only thing that I care to compare currently is the VRAM usage thanks!

Wow what a difference, only I use 4k but that does not explain a 4 GB difference

try turn off "HD ground airport (clutter) objects" (this has huge impact) within the scenery cfg app.
