February 4, 20215 yr Good to see a Mark IX showing up. Looks like it might be a must-have if the screenshots are anything to go by. Of course, I'm looking forward to Aeroplane Heaven's Spitfire Mark 1A for MSFS too, which apparently isn't too far off release, as is their DC-3, but Spit connoisseurs will tell you the Mark IX is the best-balanced Spitfire variant of them all, being still fairly lightweight and maneuverable, yet fast and with improved range owing to more internal wing storage for fuel in some IX variants. February 4, 20215 yr Wow... but 😕 it even takes off with flaps down ??? Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
February 4, 20215 yr Quote After our internal testing is complete, our Spitfire will be flown over to Microsoft who will then conduct their own testing & review to ensure it is up to standard for the Microsoft Marketplace. Where Asobo will ensure that it won't stall...ever. I thought Microsoft weren't getting involved with quality control. 😏 The World is divided into two groups. It was giving it a bit of nose down attitude as it should with them lowered, but I'm inclined to think that on grass that long it would have been digging its prop in before it ever got to lift off in real life. As you note, they're only for landing on the Spit, never for take off, and even then a lot of that is more about the drag they create than the lift they offer since they are the split type. Yep, not to mention the engine overheating if they were left down on takeoff, the drag, etc.... Makes me really question the FM :-/ Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

February 4, 20215 yr Yeah, absolutely, I can't imagine they'd go to all that trouble and not have the flaps functioning correctly. Worth noting too that not all Spit variants had a flap indicator in the cockpit although I suppose that providing the pneumatics are okay, the lever itself would tend to function as a flap position indicator. Are they pneumatic on the Spit? (and yes pneumatic is implemented). On P40s there are no real increments on the flaps. there is no flap lever for that matter lol. Just a knob/lever telling them to go up or down whenever you engage the hydraulic pump, and its up to you to decide where they stop Edited February 4, 20215 yr by leprechaunlive
February 4, 20215 yr Yeah, they're pneumatic on a Spitfire, you hear a whoosh when they operate. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
