guys i would really like to start adding liveries and flight plans to utlive2 but i have no real idea can anyone suggest any good tutorials etc, so i can get my teeth into it ?. I've tried for the 3rd time with AIG , maybe because iam stupid i just find it complicated , so I've re installed UTlive 2, any help would be great

Sonny ..... go easy on yourself there ..... you're not alone, and you certainly ain't stupid, as I gave up on the AIG thing too , ..........

I gave up on AIG too. It certainly is not a "one click" program.  UTLive is so much easier and works well for me in V5.  It just needs the xml file from UTlive in P3dv4 copied into the p3dv5 addon folder.  That's it!

Gents, I’m a lot older than you and AIG required some thinking but I did get it running and nothing else comes close to the number of airlines it has.

But instead of trying to get loads of Ai running just select one major airline, install those files and you can then check if everything is working.

Each airline is a separate BGL so providing those are read you’ll see the Ai. Try British Airways at Heathrow and marvel at the sheer number of quality aircraft visible.

You can then use the freeware Ai Companion to see the Traffic board for either the airport when on the ground or other flights when airborne.

I use UTLive for P3Dv3 but it has far fewer aircraft.

I am sure I am older than most of you but I managed to get AIG going quite easily. The only thing that I have never got right, is the connection to Flightsim which it asks for occasionally. I get stuck in an endless loop of Captur challenges and the have to cancel to get back to the one click screen. It makes no discernible difference however.  It IS one click, select the airline(s) you want to import and click. The rest is automatic.

Hi Sonny, If you really talking about UTL2, there is no way to add flightplans actually, because it´s in the beta phase (and may stuck in it for the next decade) and not all features are working currently. You can take over the AI aircrafts from the predecessor, as you find the tool in the UTL2 forum to migrate an UTLive repaints.xml into UTL2 by the developer. Works well.

Generally it works the same in UTL2 because most of the functions are identical to UTLive. The major change was made for the userinterface as it seems. And there are still many issues with UTL2 that i´am still using UTLive with my P3D 5.1 and i´am very happy how well it provides crowded Airports like Frankfurt, Munich or Heathrow, with a lot of different airliners if you have added the FLAI package to it.

thanks guys appreciate your help, i really like utlive its just the darn default livery ( daeduis) or whatever it is , it really kills the immersion for me , iam slowly trying to delete all of it until more real life liveries are available 

The Beta UTL2 have a massive Problem to depict planes on destination airports. So i deinstalled it and go back to V1.

Let's hope the beta does not last like traffic global beta did...

From what I understand, the problem is that the developer's wife has cancer and so he's been unable to dedicate much time to the project, and of course when there's any change in that situation he disappears for extended periods because - completely understandably - his family's health comes first. 

Unfortunately this means that UTLive is more or less abandonware. The answer to issues with v1 was always 'v2 is coming soon' and after several years when it did not come, most people had written it off but most were still sticking with 1.3 because it's far less hassle to set up than the alternatives (although AIG is getting easier). Then, unexpectedly, a v2 beta came out and people got excited again, however v2 has lots of issues and is missing GA entirely, and while the developer was talking about getting new beta builds up as a roadmap to a final release, it has once again gone silent and I imagine this is because of the situation I mentioned above. Most people in the forums now think v2 will never happen, and most have gone back to 1.3. 

While I have total sympathy for people going through challenging issues with health and life more generally, this is a real problem for our community. Add-ons used by many, often the only viable solution for many, developed by a single individual who then becomes unable to continue development. Another example is Pro-ATC/X. The lone developer had a very bad accident and has been recovering from this for some time (years). The product is kept afloat by dedicated individuals at the support forums, but the cracks are showing and the current version has bugs which may well never be fixed. Then the project manager (not the dev) comes online for the first time in months and says 'we're building a version for MSFS' (of course they are) and there may be a P3D update after that. But (and at least he gave some kind of timescale here) he said you can expect nothing at all until the second half of 2021, and by the way we're not going to communicate anything in the meantime.

This is the unfortunate side effect of this being a hobby and so many of the developers being hobbyists. Many just can't give the level of customer support that you would expect from a commercial supplier (like having the ability to cover when a key person is taken out of circulation by life issues). Sure, you can grow a decent-sized business out of a hobby - just look at ORBX - but most will remain one-person operations and I guess we should just set our expectations accordingly. 

It's deeply frustrating but the alternative is just not having those add-ons at all.

Sounds like a similar story to the developer of My Traffic which I used for several years. Updates stopped because of his health problems. This is always the downside to applications supported by a single individual. Sad but inevitable but we are all mortal and support can also take second place to family or personal reasons.

I have installed the Beta based on advice read here. There is a problem...when I boot up P3D, I receive a pop up information window telling me there are duplicate file names involving the Daedalus aircraft. How do I change names so that I do not get this popup window? Thanks...

Simple to fix.  I had that too.  Go to your C drive, find Flight One Software folder and go to the Ultimate Traffic Live file.  In there is a folder for UT Live Aircraft.  It's in that file that you can eliminate the duplicate airlines.  When you open P3d, write down all the duplicates it alerts you to, and delete them from that aircraft folder I mentioned above.

thanks stan....not sure it is worth the trouble, but I will give it a go....otherwise back to UTL sans beta...
