March 11, 20215 yr I wonder if this fix is just masking a problem that needs to be fixed. March 11, 20215 yr I've posted about this registry key (see below). My post has nothing to do with CTD with FS2020 but Computer hard-lock/freeze due to HDD, and this might help you too. It is possible this is related if for example your FS2020 files are on a HDD (say your cache) and it went sleeping while flying. Read more below: Quote From time to time, my Win10 system would just halt with a black screen with no other recourse than powering off. It is very frustrating and you never know what damage to your files will result out of this. I am on an SSD anyway. I was about ready to uninstall MSFS 2020 and purchase P3D, until this fix came along. Edited March 11, 20215 yr by Bobsk8
March 12, 20215 yr Author This tweak may prevent some endless freezes where the GPU scheduler is an actor under the hood.
November 30, 20214 yr So after a recent spate of CTDs out of nowhere, I tried this regedit AND I removed GeForce experience at the same time; and today I had a nice, pleasant, hour-long flight with no crashes. Now I'm debating whether to add GeForce Experience back and give it another try, as I really like recording my flights with GeForce.

Have you considered that recording the flights with Geforce experience may be the issue? Unless you absolutely need it i would recommend not using experience. I've been trying to find a simple and free recording tool to replace it, if you have a suggestion I'd appreciate it. With GeForce Exp you just hit Ctrl+R and it records the flights. I use it for recording flights for my YouTube channel.

I also use GE for the in-game filters, they help a little to migate the overexposure on my SDR monitor. But I do not have CTD so I doubt this is a factor. Im not saying that it is the reason for your ctd but for me i never install anything that i am not using and try to stick to the bare essentials. Hmm would an ELGATO work to capture your video ? Im not a pro at media so im probably not the one to ask but i think thats one system that streamers like to use. What's weird is I wasn't having them, didn't change anything, and then they started happening. Just one after another. It's bizarre. And what causes crashes for some people is no problem for others and vice versa. I like to think it was this regedit that did the trick.
