Any way to roll back to a previous version?

as more and more complex aircraft are made for msfs I'm concerned the forced update route is going to cause us major problems.  IE, periods of time where we can't fly certain airplanes we have paid for.

The simple answer to your question is no, you cannot roll back versions.  I cannot really relate to your issues, as I have seen very few problems caused by the update.  Most problems seem to be with 3rd party mods compatibility, which will always be an "issue" when the core software updates.  But this is a massive multi player online game/sim.  For it to function, everyone needs to be on the same version

I was running MSFS2020 purely default with zero add ons because I wanted to fully vet this thing out before spending any more coin. It went from being "relatively" butter smooth to Pentium 2-like after the last update. Even in the menus, it's a slide show so it's certainly Asobo thing. I'm a patient guy and I have P3D with a full stable of goodies to keep me entertained for the time being. We'll see how they respond.

And here's another user who doesn't use mods in any way (and doesn't even use payware for that matter) and who has several problems with MSFS even after reinstalling Windows 10 and MSFS from scratch (which is a total waste of time, I can tell you). Of course there always will be people who never or hardly experience problems. Some people are just lucky.

In regards to rolling back: I can fully understand that updates are forced. If they wouldn't do that you'd end up with all possible versions being used all over the world while they all depend on the same online servers. It would become totally impossible for 3d party devs to develop anything because they would have to have a version of their addon for every possible version of MSFS... Finding and solving bugs would become impossible too (which it seems to be already btw). Things would become unworkable and very ugly pretty soon. That's what you get with a game that depends on 'the cloud'.

Nah, it's a good thing updates are forced. Like it or not. The future of MSFS depends upon it. Even though it sucks sometimes (like with me since the UK update).

If there is a real need for a global rollback , Microsoft can and will do it. All systems and tools are in place.

IMHO request for rollback based on individual circumstances or preferences defeat the principle and thus benefit of MSFS running in cloud. This is the only way to put performance affordably in the hands of many many many of us users.

As I said in this thread before. No individual rollback although painful for some, its an effective way to get the community and developer(s) engaged to quickly identify and improve issues for good and for all.

No Mods at all and I got 5 FPS in the infamous airport in Texas. Saying  that mods are causing the problem is BS.

Bit strange. The fps loss and stutter in a lot of places while flying is well documented but menus usually are not affected.

I've seen it reported elsewhere in these forums. But yes, when 2020 goes into slide show mode, I can enter the menus and ever the cursor lags as do the menu buttons. CPU loads up and GPU goes to roughly 2-3%. In some areas it'll last for a minute or two and in other areas it's slide show until I exit the program. New Zealand seems to be immune from the "Asobo Covid" so I've been enjoying that beautiful part of the world 🙂

Nope none whatsoever,

You are simply forced to do the update and then live with all the issues after until they get fixed. It feels like we have all paid for the privilege to be Beta testers !

Well, I hate to tell you this, but we've been Beta Testers since the first release of MS Windows or there about. Brilliant, but underhanded and BS if you ask me.

Please, no rollbacks. I've had few if any issues with the latest beta updates.

Partly why I don't bother with the official discord,  The auto - response of  "empty your Community folder - its probably a mod" to just about any problem got old quick.......The gatekeepers there are Hilarious

Don't you love three year old threads coming back to life?
