I'm sure that plenty of their planes more or less work in P3D v5, but I'd have a lot more confidence in my purchases if they would test them properly and spend the time to make them genuinely P3D v5 compliant.

EDIT: Here's some comments from the Carenado Facebook page where they claim that all their planes work in v5: (have been doing about a of pre-purchase research today)

- There are many problems with most of the P3D aircraft.

- Some work, some don't at all and crash my entire system when installed.

- When will the new installers be out Carenado? Very few of my aircraft work even installing them as you guided in this post.

- I bought the B120 based on your official Carenado guidance that ALL aircraft would work in V5. It loads, but the performance is terrible and it is unusable. I am extremely annoyed that I have spent £40 on something that is simply not fit for purpose

- I won’t buy svs for my Malibu until I know it works on P3d v5. So far, silence

- ATR42 and ATR72 not installed correctly on P3Dv5 and crash the system after few minutes

- It seems that B1900D old cockpit textures are not supported by P3D5 (but OK with P3D4...). Exterior is OK.

- i confirm that the C210 and B18 and TBM are not working on P3dv5 !!!

- Seneca V doesn't work. No cockpit and mixture moves back to idle cutoff

These comments are from a while back now, no idea if compatibility and stability have improved. Would be good to hear more from actual users on Avsim who have plenty of flight hours in these planes in v5 - I suspect problems are likely model-specific.

Well, I can tell you that yesterday I purchased 6 Carenado aircraft and they ALL work in P3D v5. That's my story. 

I fly the Phenom 300 in P3Dv5 but I have issues with it - in my case, missing sounds. Carenado support swears it's fine in v5 but I've reinstalled it several times to no avail. But it flies OK. I don't use the built-in Carenado G1000 on any of their aircraft, though. I strip it out and use the Flight1Tech G1000 Student Simulator Pro and some hacked-out pages from the original XML gauges. That works better for me.

I have lots of Carenado aircraft but they are all compromises one way or another and I find their support severely lacking.

You can’t provide much data after a day regarding six aircraft! That’s not a very interesting story, Boston.

There are a lot of users with a lot more flight hours than you reporting issues, so I think just saying that they “all work in prepar3d v5” as you did earlier is an overly-enthusiastic overstatement.

I bought four because they’re cheap and i’m a sucker for a bargain. But I certainly am not going to be proclaiming them to be working and bug-free until I’ve done a lot more testing.

Oh, I know. And I am not saying they are bug-free either! 😉 I am just saying that I did 1 flight with each and so far the two issues I have encountered is - I can’t update AIRAC on my Phenom 300 (even after doing auto-detect mapping with FMS data manager), and right now I am cruising in Malibu Mirage and I can’t get VS to engage downward from cruise altitude. That’s it. But fairly minor, right? But I can say that I am not running into breaking end of the world issues.

Frig, that's the very essence of Carenado. No matter what plane you get, there's always and always will have something wrong that will never ever be updated or fixed no matter how small. I just flew for two hours and probably cleared the airspace alerts about 300 times and there's no way to prevent airspace alerts, it just drives you up the wall.

How do you like the S360?    Or did you buy the S330?

I'm more of an S330-type-of-guy as I like the tail ramp and twin-fin tail.  I think the S330 says it can be used with the RXP GTN 750, too....whereas the S360 doesn't say that (it says it works with the RXP GNS 530 I believe...). 

Anyway if the RXP 750 works with the Shorts 330 I might consider it for that price.

Can anyone confirm that the ATR 72 works in v5 ?

I got the 360. Thinking about maybe getting the 330 too. I love it! It's old and crickety (helps to have A2A AccuFeel), it's VERY steady and stable in flight, it's a pleasure to fly! It gives you an option for Flight 1 GTN750 or RXP 530. I use GTN. It's a pretty cool aircraft. I enjoy it. It's also cheap!

Having got caught up in the excitement of this thread, I ended up buying four planes to fly in v5.

Warning: IT'S A TRAP!!!

The main problem with this event is that what you are buying in the Carenado sale is...Carenado planes. I install them, fly them for a few minutes and than move them to my virtual Carenado boneyard to join their colleagues.

My advice? Save your money and buy a smaller number of quality aircraft from the top developers: A2A, PMDG, Majestic, Maddog, FSL. Much more expensive than a fire sale Carenado, but still much better value.

 

 

Their Cessna 337 is one of Carenado's better offerings I believe.

Here’s a question. I have the 360 but I also have always liked the look of the 330 so I’m tempted to buy it, but is there actually any difference in the cockpit between the 360 & 330 ? I fly in VR so if the cockpits are the same it might be a waste of time getting the 330 just for the occasional time I look at it from an external view.

I kind of don't mind them.

Yes compared to A2A etc. they have no depth, but are nice for a simple fly, look good and are easy to improve.

For the C208B HD I added cockpit immersion sounds, patched the engine, swapped out the turbine sounds, redid the lighting, replaced the GPS and am working on some other avionics mods.

Something of a hobby you might say.
