I am flying happily on p3d since is born , the last few months i've noticed (it was hard not to heheh... ) fs 2020 .
I waited (as always) to start this new adventure but i can't separate the negative comments from the positive ones (my fault )
I found very conflicting opinions, and even here which I believe to be the reference point for me. I didn't quite understand if it's ok or not.
So I ask in your opinion if it is appropriate for me to  switch to the new simulator . I try to give more backgroung , I mostly use airliner, the 737 pmdg on p3d and 727 cptn sim on fsx (just to remind me how I'm useless now ),
i am very interested in airbuses and i noticed that fs2020 comes with one included in the price, what level of "plausibility" (I don't want to talk about "realism" for things like this) can I expect? Apart from the scenery (looks amazing) is it worth the current price or is it better to wait a little longer? (which is not a problem for me). Thanks in advance for any opinion, positive or negative.

☺️

Hallo Schweiz, hello Switzerland, bonjour la Suisse !
As you can speak at least 3 different languages, you will enjoy Fs 2020 as much as P3D !

It's a nice game, you might have some problems, but you will enjoy most of it.
Problems will be solved sooner or later,. You need some practice to fully use this software. Start now !

Some freeware or payware make this game a real flight simulator.

My opinion : it's time for you to buy it. People here will help you in case of problems.
Current price is not that expensive !

Note : I'm not a simmer, but rather, a player. Real simmers will answer you too !

I think you will be amazed if you to to Youtube and search for A320 and MSFS.

I can easily land the stock A320 in MSFS just using stick and rudder, so if the instrument helps are not acting just right, you can still complete the flight if you turn off the AP with the Z key. The stock defalt Boeings airliners in MSFS are not that easy to control of course.

But you can see many complete flights with A320 in MSFS 2020 on Youtube using all the instruments and electronics. You will notice they complain about a few things, but mainly things go really well.

I have never seen any Youtube videos where the guy says he just hates the stock A320 or the A320 modded aircraft either for that matter.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

The best solution is ignore what everyone else says and get a 1 month trial of Xbox for PC that includes the basic game and costs about $1 in most countries.

Do NOT buy any addons while testing it as if you later decide to buy something like the Steam version of the game many of those those addons will not carry across, just try out the basic game.

At the end of the month just be sure to cancel the subscription as the price goes up astronomically and it is only worth keeping the subscription if you play multiple other games as well as MSFS.

If you like MSFS then cancel the game pass and buy MSFS at the end of the month from either Steam or the MS store.

If on the other hand you decide MSFS is not your thing cancel the game pass and just forget all about it. You will have only lost a dollar.

At the moment, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Visuals are indeed stunning, but the sim itself is far from the "study level" achieved in P3D - mainly due to the (as yet) lack of addons from developers like PMDG, CS and A2A. However - it's got a LOT of potential and I'm sure will surpass P3D in that respect soon-ish.

As far as the A320 goes, FlyByWire are well down the track in creating a superb mod/addition to the stock A320.

If you have room on your system for both, I'd say go for it (but check your system specs first)!

Stay on P3D, thank me later.

If we had half decent ai it would lift the ball game to another level. I'm happy where the sim sits today with FBW/Aerosoft CRJ/etc, However a pet peeve of mine is lack of ai. Nothing worse than empty airports and non matching aircraft.

The live traffic is a gimmick. The problem Microsoft made was locking in this livery deal with airlines. They should've just left it for the community to deal with like previous sims.

Go with MSFS. Watch some recent youtube videos. It's not perfect but dont let the maybe 50 hardcore whiners at this forum influence your decission.

Stay away from payware, although it might be nice but thats for later.

Flybywire A320 is great and growing (and freeware)  Working Title is also very good and freeware.

Go here for some nice Swiss freeware   https://flightsim.to/by-country/CH/

What's the worst that can happen???   That you spent around 120 euro's and feel that is a waste.

Your PC power is very important. High end CPU, good graphic card, 32 gigs ram and SSD and/or recent motherboard with m.w ssd

I9-14900K,  Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX, RTX 4080, 32 ram.1 tb nvme  M.2 SSD, MSFS 2020 on 2 tb nvme m.2 SSD

If ‘study level’ payware (PMDG, FSL, MJQ400) is most important to you MSFS will not provide that to the same level right now. It’s true A320 and CJ4 are both excellent freeware, but they may not make you feel you haven’t lost something. So by all means keep P3D in parallel if you can.

You must have a fast Internet link though (40+ Mbit) to make the most of the visuals, photogrammetry streaming etc, which I don’t have here in the bucolic 18th century British countryside.

Right now also many of the problems we’ve seen in MSFS are not necessarily solvable by upgrading your PC. Here in the UK at least and probably elsewhere, there is an indefinite wait for RTX3080/90s from many PC suppliers. Whilst you are best to have a powerful modern system to run MSFS, if it runs P3D OK you’re probably still good for now. I have an i5 system originally from 2014 which is still pretty mostly OK on High to Ultra settings.

If GA & VFR is your thing though you’ll never want to go back to P3D. The skies and visuals are truly stunning, and when it’s smooth the experience is pretty immersive.

The best advice is Glenn's up above. Try it.

The bottom line is that it is a nice sim but unfinished and MS takes its sweet time to deliver what they said it would be.

If you fly small prop aircraft, mostly by hand, you will have a ball. The flight model is not bad at all IMO and some default aircraft are fairly nice. I do so I know.

If you love the PMDG 737 type of aircraft, the sim does not offer much but  an excellent mod of the default business jet CJ4 and a well avanced (but still in progress) an also excellent mod of the simplistic default airbus. Also, an Aerosoft CRJ is just out with mostly positive but mixed reviews.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

It's cheap to try it out (very nearly free if you take a trial Gamepass account to give it a whirl), but it's expensive on resources in terms of HD space and data streaming bandwidth, so keep that in mind if SSD space is at a premium for you or your intertron connection is not the best.

On the plus side, it's all over P3D like a cheap suit in terms of visual bang for your bucks and performance, there's just no comparison on how much better it runs and looks compared to the Lockheed Martin offering. The many freebies and tweaked default aeroplanes keep the price of entry low, and tweaks to the default jets add much to the experience for those looking for more systems realism.

There's obviously not the amount of 'study sim' (TM) aeroplanes available for it which P3D has, but in spite of claims to the contrary, this is more to do with its newness than its capabilities. Even at this point there is a very good payware CRJ which does much to scratch the itch and comes in at 40 quid, which is vastly cheaper than most P3D offerings for things with those kind of looks and capability.

All of this makes it well worth checking out.

Well .... from the comments it seems that is still a source of different opinions 😄 ,  the general one is to wait or  try it but in any case with low expectations (like an early access?) right ?  certainly not the same as other more tested simulators , in any case I wouldn't have approached it as a complete product , at hardware and connection level, I think I can handle it , I didn't know that high-level paid products had already been released, the crj amazes me (it's a port of crj professional for p3d?crj 550\700\900\1000?), unlike the 737 I saw in videos that  scares me deeply! I feel  to start with an extra gear knowing  the situation, word not allowed I also already have a link to some freeware for Switzerland! thank you hansb57 ! and thank you all for the opinions, I'll take them into account , I think I'll try it like Glenn Fitzpatrick said it seems to me an excellent method I didn't know it was possible
