Is Orbx Landmarks Paris/London even worth it now?

I bet there are plenty of people (me included) who didn't realise your could configure the city landmarks in Orbx Central. Not exactly well publicised

With all due respect, there is a comprehensive user guide included in Orbx Central. Here is the relevant page.

Thanks, but with equally due respect, if something appears to be running ok, there's no obvious need to read a comprehensive user guide for a mere scenery landmarks add-on.

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU:  MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB]
SSD:  Corsair Force MP510 (for OS);  2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)
HDD:  Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet

Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

In my opinion, the MSFS updates that, to date, provide detailed coverage of the U.S., Britain and Ireland, and France and the Benelux countries, render most 3rd party addons for those areas unnecessary. I have deleted all the ones I had installed and everything looks great.

This is why the authors of user guides, manuals and handbooks of all descriptions despair.

If all else fails RTFM. Otherwise, it hides in a drawer (virtual today).  😉

And equally it's why I despair when a simple piece of scenery I've bought says it's installed correctly when it isn't. The software should correctly detect which version should be installed without me having to second guess it.

I am getting the impression that we should be grateful to OrbX?

I assume that you must be playing the devil's advocate.

Too many assumptions methinks.

They could rebuild Fawlty Towers!

🙄

I'd be happy of they could just switch 20 Fenchurch St 180 degrees, Gaya have put it facing the wrong way!

I have made a couple more, but I will keep them to myself.

It's been a while. Did ORBX update Paris Landmarks to be compatible with the world update as they did with London ? They're still pushing it on their website but I can't find any info as to compatibility. Any update to the original question of whether it's worth it now. ?

You are right. They don’t say if any of their products are compatible with the latest update on their product pages.

The same goes for the Marketplace.

I also want to know if a product is compatible with the latest update.

In your case with Paris : is it still needed after the France, BeNeLux update ?

Did you see this freeware Paris :? https://flightsim.to/file/4605/paris

This topic was published on 13th May 2021. If you cannot bring yourself to look at the Orbx forums, MSFS will also tell you this, if you take the trouble to look. I don't think that any developer is likely to publish a new version just to tell one that the product remains compatible after a simulator update.

I flew a community flight in London 2 weeks ago,  imo ORBX London is an improvement.    Their London EGCL airport gives me ctd though.    Never tried to fix it though,  probably could with the add ons linker tools.

In my opinion, not worth it, I bought it pre WU5 through the Marketplace. A MSFS update messed it up so I uninstalled.  Its that good now I can see no reason to go back to it and consider it wasted money.

Now before buying commercial scenery / airports I do the following:

1 do a flight over the default scenery / airport

2 See if there is a freeware version (Flightsim.to), if so install it and do another flight.

3 View videos of the payware version

4 decide what to go for, it would have to be something really mind blowing for me to buy payware scenery / airports now.
