Constant down pitching

Featured Replies

This is driving me nuts and keeps from wanting to fly the sim. In any aircraft I get a slight downpitch which leads to having to constantly trim just to keep aircraft level. In aircraft i.e microlights, it's worse since they have usually don't have trimtabs. I have to constantly have joystick backpressure just to avoid diving in to the ground. I've tried everything, resetting controller profiles, calibrating in windows, tried 2 different controllers, TM 16000 and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro but they are both exhibiting the same behaviour. In FSX, P3D and X-Plane 11 I have NO issues at all. Maybe I've missed something obvious like if FS2020 has a total different way of simulating flight physics. It's just that I'm so used to, for example, trim my A2A Cherokee with the thottle alone which I thought was quite realistic. In FS2020 however, aircraft are practically glued to the runway at even high airspeeds due to the downpitch problem. It's really bad, please help.

Try flying early in the morning with clear skies and no wind.  If it happens then, you have a problem but if it doesn't it's just the effect of the weather on the flight physics.

Thanks for the advice, however, it didn't make any difference. Still pitches down.

Yes. Really (*&*"£& annoying and unrealistic.

Unless the xbox kiddies notice it I doubt Microsoft will ever bother to fix the flight dynamics/weather issues. We are not their intended market any longer.

Power for altitude pitch for airspeed . Since you can’t  trim to release pressure from controls like IRL, trim for airspeed

I fly MSFS just like do IRL works great in both worlds!

They work in airlines so you have a lot of chances 😉

Do you have a gamepad plugged into your computer in addition to your joystick? . If it is the case it is necessary to eliminate all the functions of piloting on this one.And keep it only for the drone function.

You can trim for what would be pressure. Start with the stick held whereever you need to hold it to maintain whatever you want the plane to do. Trim, while simultaneously slowly moving the stick toward centered. Once the stick is centered, you're trimmed.  It takes some practice to get used to doing it that way since there isn't any actual pressure, but once you get your brain synced with the speed of the trim command, it kinda becomes second nature.

This pretty much what mean by “trim for airspeed “. You set desired power setting, trim, and let go of controls

Trimming with the throttle alone is not at all realistic. You should be able to set power at normal cruise, the Cherokee around 2300 rpm and adjust trim for level flight.

I noticed this particular effect in  msfs2020 to a far greater extent than in P3Dv5 or XPlane

I have adjusted to it -a give away perhaps is that it never occurs In autopilot situations

Is it that flying manually is difficult or is it a msfs2020 effect

Probably the former-pilot error as always!

Real airlines or Virtual Airlines? Where are you Chief Flying Instructor? Which airfield?

Have you checked to see if the sim is set for "legacy" flight control, or "modern" as it should be. I've seen postings where any odd update can change that setting for some.
