TDS Sim GTNXi coming for MSFS!

The problem for me is no updateable database.  Great displaying on a second screen or tablet, but the database will be old just after it is purchased.

What I really want also with the Reality XP one is a Ipad / Iphone interface via network client!

It is a touchscreen GTN in the first place! Why still press buttons with a mouse?

Biggest issue for me as well, the databases included in the trainers get rarely updated and often over a year old. And Garmin charges hefty prices for their updates, as they are targeting real pilots. Should they ever release an affordable "sim-use-only" plan for the complete worldwide dataset I'd be tempted, but not like this.

The stream is live on Youtube now:

That guy needs to change the value on the GTN to DTK (NOT TRK).  The Desired track is then what you set your OBS knob/CDI to.  He keeps adjusting his CDI to the TRK.  Do we know if this is just a streamer dude or does he have any aviation experience? (Heck yeah I posted and changed it to DTK).

Oh the streamer just confirmed it is developed by the guy who did the Flight1 version.  I think it was Tiberiu (not sure on the spelling).  Makes sense if it's Tiberiu Design Studio (or studios just a guess).

watched the stream this morning...the jitter on aircraft while following FP on autopilot is not acceptable.
When the guy click on CDI button, HSI stop following vloc and goes to GPS, okay, but when it was on VLOC, this HSI was indicating "GPS" !
and lot of another things like that. It is clear this product is not finished and was release too early.
With captain sim 777, we can see a lot of "easy money" addons arriving, and it is not a good message.

The MSFS AP system is dodgly enough that the jitter *might* have nothing to do with the GPS system ?

As for GPS/VLOC that kind of make sense if the GTN isn't really integrated with that aircraft and is a separate app communicating via Simconnect and they just need to wire up the GPS DRIVE NAV 1 variable.

Thanks for the HU. I'll wait for any RXP version to be released. The best or nothing.

Or it is because as he can't override autopilot system, he acts on surface control to "simulate" an autopilot overriding and at a refresh rate too low (because of simconnect), causing jitters. This is just a guess because as simconnect doesn't allow autopilot control,  he should have find a (bad) workaround like this. Anyway, this is not a product with the quality and functionnalities i'm waiting for. definitively a no go for me (even if is will be enhanced in the future, selling such a product is not professional).

Simconnect can definitely send AP control instruction to the sim - ie change mode, set Altitude etc - but I can't really tell if that is what this app is doing or if it's trying to be an alternative AP system.

There are a number of features in the real GTN750 that I really like but may never be possible in a mod like PMS50s like the Visual Approach mode, so I'm definitely curious about ways to bring the full functionality to MSFS but as this stands it's not what I'm looking for.

However I have absolutely no objection to a dev selling a product like this as long as they are clear about what people are buying and what it can and can't do.

Has no one bought it yet? I just purchased it and it feels like having an old friend back. After fiddling around with the quirky default GPS for such a long time it is a great experience to deal with a capable and reliable GPS again. The installation process was smooth and easy. And the GTNXi is a big improvement over the old GTN with many new features like glide rings or a much easier navigation between the different pages. And despite the current limitations of the MSFS in regard to autopilot and flight director it works really well. As a RXP or F1 user you feel right at home. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Of course it would have been great to have the GTNXi integrated into the VC. But we all have read in the RXP thread that the MSFS team has no plans to allow that. And that is another reason why I like to support the TDS GTNXi. To show the MSFS team that there is demand for these kind of gauges. This is probably our only way to convince them to change their sandbox approach. Otherwise we will never have a RXP or TDS GTN in the virtual cockpit of an addon aircraft for MSFS. A rather unfortunate thought.

For now I will look into ways to use an iPad as a second screen. That could be a very good combination with the GTNXi.

Greetings
Tim
