A Connie - nice!

I like the way they plot the development of each phase. Even more detail when you click through.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Interesting! Where did they get smoke effects?

Great news!

I find it cheering to see many new comers to aircraft development .  We have not seen that for a long time. So long life to Redwing !

Regarding the Constel' (as we call it in French), she was meant to have a 4 flight crew and these simcraft need to have at least an optional AI Flight Engineer. You can't drive the aircraft during approach and landing for instance and take care of 4 sensitive engines. Kudos to A2A which came to the idea  with the Strat' then the Connie, PMDG following suit with the DC-6.

I love this plane - the design, the sound - there’s something special about it. One of the few remaining airworthy Connies used to be stationed at my local airport until a few years ago and it often flew over the city rather low. The sound and sight of it was amazing, people on the street would turn their heads to the sky. My cousin, an aviation fanatic, once took a scenic flight in it and he‘s still raving about the exhaust flames and the roaring noise. I really regret having missed that opportunity. Maybe I‘ll buy it for my cousin who comes over for a simming session from time to time.

Model in the MSFS hangar screenshot looks a bit ropey, check out the window alignment with the cheat line; notice too how the cockpit windows are not the correct shape for a Constellation. They're going to have to do better than that, especially in a sim which trades a lot of its looks.

I wish them good luck with it of course, but I think it's a bit early to start getting excited about this one based on those two little observations.

Hopefully the model will get tidied up a bit, along with the website.  Pretty sure it's not a Lockeed Martin L-1049, with LM having been founded in the 90's and when they change that page, they'll hopefully add the missing "h" to Lockeed.

Cheers

That is included in the official SDK now. The JF arrows have smoke effects now when starting up the engine for example.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

Huh! I didn't know that! was under impression that all FX will come with DX12! Thank you for letting me know!

Yup, very well implemented as well - subtle but noticeable if you look for it.

Yup, there's definitely some particle effects available in MSFS now since I think when they threw in contrails, even that ten quid Caudron 431 for MSFS has heat blur coming off the exhaust stacks.

Wonder if they'll do the smaller Constellations also.  My favorite plane in FSX was the freeware 749

"Lookheed" Super-Constellation - they need to use Grammarly or something 😄

Whilst not a huge airliner fan by any means, this will be a must buy for me if the quality is at all reasonable.

Bit of trivia - I believe the Aussie one based down at Shell Harbour near Wollongong may be the last air worthy one left in the world.

Until 2019, the other one was belonging to Breitling (Swiss aviation watchmakers) in Switzerland - precisely the one modeled by Redwing - which they most probably had access to for their documentation work. However Breitling removed their sponsorship after a change of ownership and above all, swiss aviation authorities detected corrosion in the wings necessitating major repair works that no one was willing to finance (over 20 million Francs).

Look at this start (2019 video in Belgium)...
