June 4, 20215 yr yes, disable all would take like <1 seconds, instead of 50 minutes if you had to move 300gb of files.
June 4, 20215 yr The beauty of this program is that you can organize your addons however you like (whatever folder tree that makes sense to you). Then you can “activate” groups organized however you like, and cleaning out EVERYTHING is always ONE CLICK away. If I’m flying in the Southeast US, there’s no need to load LAX or LGW. June 4, 20215 yr thanks for your always nice comments @cavaricooper (and others too), if you are interested i can send you a little test version that let you activate things via a little map (very simple). Maybe i'll post that new version this weekend, i'm still a bit unsure because i know it's a bit beta-ish but if i wait until i'm 100% happy with it it will probably not be released until xmas 🙈😉.
June 4, 20215 yr oky thank you, will send you a private message shortly (if other wants too, feel free to just send me a private message so we don't use forum bandwith on this thread 😜)

For some people it makes a huge difference (some had like to wait 10+ minutes with all their addons activated and sometimes even a lot more than that). It's not even the number of addons that matter the most i think, some are very taxing like 'unoptimized big photogrametry' regions that contains 1000's of small files. It's important to understand that if you activate everything you will get the exact same load-time than if you put everything in the community folder (if both disks have the same speed). Unfortunately it's not possible to activate/deactivate addons while the sim is running, that's a sim limitation, not much we can do. Ohh I see, I should have thought of this, now it all makes sense 🙂 I understand now. 15 minutes ago, Bad_T said: yes correct @in2tech it's about the loading time and it can also sometimes help with finding out conflicts after an update (by quickly activating / deactivaing addons for example to try to find out the culprit), we posted at the same time oh again 🍻 That is a really good reason I had never thought off. So its just like NMM that I used to manage my other games. I use the method to isolate troublesome Skyrim mods. 13 minutes ago, Bad_T said: yes, disable all would take like <1 seconds, instead of 50 minutes if you had to move 300gb of files. Wow 😳 Ok now Im sold. Im gonna get this mod manager. I take it you are the creator of this manager? Thank you very much for it, I shall get it now. Thanks also for explaining its features.
June 4, 20215 yr yeah i'm the creator, the manual is a bit 'missing' but there are some cool videos on Youtube that can help. It should be fairly easy to setup. Only problem that happened to some people is if your files are encrypted in the community folder, in that case they might not work if you move them outside so you would have to redownload them and put them directly in your custom folder (that happened to some people with the ms-store version and it's unfortunately not something we can do to bypass windows 'security') .. So just start small, move 1 or 2 addons and see it it works for you before moving everything. Feel free to message me if you need more help. Edited June 4, 20215 yr by Bad_T

I have the Steam version so hopefully I wont encounter those problems but thanks for that information. Good to know. Will watch some YouTubes and follow along. Even on another drive? 🙂 Yes (as others have said). The Linker uses standard NTFS functions (Symlinks): https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/
June 4, 20215 yr Another advantage of using the Linker is that if you organise your *liveries* into regions/countries, you'll get region-specific aircraft appearing at static gates, ramps etc. (as well as AI).
January 10, 20224 yr I'm very grateful for this thread and for the manual (https://flightsim.to/file/14298/msfs-addons-linker-general-procedure). I just started playing Flight Simulator last week. I haven't yet downloaded ORBX Central, but I installed Addons Linker. 1) MSFS is installed on C: (SSD) 2) MSFS Community folder is on C: (SSD) 3) Addons Linker watch folder is on D: (HDD) The manual says the following: "Addendum Payware scenery (eg. Orbx) can also be made Linker-compliant: 1. If you already have an Orbx library outside your Community folder, go to step 4. 2. Create a folder in your base external folder (eg. 'Orbx Scenery Library'). 3. Re-download/re-install your scenery but place it in the newly created folder. 4. Point the Linker at that folder." So I wanted to confirm that I simply install ORBX Central > Set it's default scenery Folder to a subfolder in the Addons Linker watch folder? So then when I want to load an ORBX Scenery before a flight, is that done from ORBX Central, or from Addons Linker? Am I thinking through this properly? Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

January 10, 20224 yr A question about Addon Linker: I just managed to move my Marketplace purchase to a custom folder and created a link to original Onestore folder. Now, if there is an update to that scenery, does it get updated normally as it would sit in a normal, original, place? Tapani Österberg
