June 4, 20215 yr Yes, I downloaded them last night but haven't installed them yet. Nothing specific mentioned about MSFS, and no security issues mentioned in the notes, so I might not install them. The vast majority of the time, the new drivers add nothing beneficial, and can sometimes be worse. Nice to see they are really pushing DLSS for a lot of games in the notes. One game showed about a 65-70% frame rate improvement! It would be great to be able to hold a steady 60 fps at 4k and a decent detail level (high/ultra) eventually - That is my aim. With DX12, other optimisations, and maybe the next series of graphics cards, we may just get there. Then they will move the goalposts with ray tracing, insects flying about, and people walking about on the ground, just to bring us back down to 45 fps! 😀 Edited June 4, 20215 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I only see DLSS added for No Mans Sky. Am i missing something? I was really hoping for the Red Dead Redemption 2 DLSS update (The only game that can tear me away from Flight Sim 😄 ) Hopefully that'll come next time.
June 4, 20215 yr I think all these new thick and fast drivers are targeted at 30XX cards. New drivers the day the 3080Ti is "released" yesterday I turned down the chance to get a 3080Ti as MSFS at 1440p a 3080Ti is an uplift of 2.2 FPS and it was going to cost me an uplift from my 3080 of £600-£700. Thanks but no thanks. £300-£350 per FPS is not a great idea imo. From the Notes: Gaming TechnologyIncludes support for the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU Edited June 4, 20215 yr by Nyxx David Murden. Although specifically mentioning that one game in the notes, I saw a linked article that graphed the frame rate improvement with DLSS for various games (on the Nvidia website). It will be interesting to see how this would work in MSFS, as it could be a game changer if it has the same effect. Although on a recent twitch session, the Asobo guys didn't seem very optimistic about it. People had to ask persistent questions about DLSS 2.0 inclusion, just to get it noted. You would think that if they are working hard on DX12, they would really want this feature from the start. Edited June 4, 20215 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). June 4, 20215 yr Saw this when installing the new drivers. lmao, I have a 2060, and the only time I get that kind of performance is if I'm flying over africa at FL300. Most of the time I'm stuck at ~30fps Mind you, this image doesn't say at what graphics settings, just resolution Edited June 4, 20215 yr by Tuskin38

It is not really an improved 3080 - it is a nerfed 3090 chip with less CUDA cores than a full 3090 and less memory bandwidth than a full 3090, and with only 2GB more memory than the generic 3080 - overall it gives a 7% performance improvement over the 3080 (versus 10 to 15% for a 3090). If the price was just slightly above a 3080 people would be happy enough with it, especially if it had more like 16GB of RAM. The MSRP is too high. What people really wanted was more ram the 3080 is fast enough Edited June 4, 20215 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

Lee Lee, A 3090 is best imo becasue you simple would not have to think about VRAM, the uplift from a 3080 to 3080Ti (if you can get one) is a joke for the price. So imo Firstly wait to see what MSFS and DX12 bring becasue imo it wont be like the P3Dv5 mess. MS and Asobo are not going to take us back to FSX of OOM. But ofc I dont know that. But imo wait and if you really want to buy a new card get a 3090. Or just wait and make due till 40xx cards come out. IMO the 3080Ti should of had 14-16GB of VRAM. At 1440p the Ti give 2.2 FPS over a 3080....so do you really want to pay that for 2GB of VRAM? 🙂 David Murden. June 4, 20215 yr Is it worth it if I have a 1080 Ti? 🤣 Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

My system went from low 30's FPS to more like 45 to 50 FPS. To be honest I am not sure a 2060 to 3060 upgrade is worthwhile you are probably going to move from low 30s to high 30's at best. In that chart it is just giving 10% over the 2060.
