TBM - turns like a shopping trolley

Featured Replies

I have my sensitivities dialed in pretty nicely, after much fiddling and testing.  I would say on all the aircraft I fly this isn't an issue but the TBM (maybe since update 4) turns really sluggish on the ground when I have full rudder left or right?  For instance if I am doing a back taxi I can barely turn around full circle if the runway is pretty narrow.  Anyone else?

This has always been an issue with the default version, even after the update (which resolved a lot of other issues).  The ground handling with the tbm-improvement mod has always been great.  Someone posted this edit (which gives you that same good ground control):

Nose Wheel:

In the original file flight_model.cfg you'll see:
---------------------------------

max_castering_angle = 3.14159265358979 ; Defines the maximum angle a free castering wheel can take (in radians).
point.0 = 1, -7.5, 0, -4.14, 720, 0, 0.52, 15, 0.327, 1.5, 0.9, 13, 13, 0, 0, 0, 4

Change the 15 to 60 so it looks like the below:

max_castering_angle = 3.14159265358979 ; Defines the maximum angle a free castering wheel can take (in radians).
point.0 = 1, -7.5, 0, -4.14, 720, 0, 0.52, 60, 0.327, 1.5, 0.9, 13, 13, 0, 0, 0, 4

-------------------------------

I made a copy of the default, then made this edit - steers great again.

Actually now you mention it I disabled the TBM mod after update 4 which brought all the turboprop changes thinking it might conflict!  Thanks for very useful reply.

I flew x aviations tbm in xp11 yesterday and the difference is quite unbelievable, the feeling of flying x aviations tbm compared to fs2020 tbm even with the mod......well.....there is just no comparison whatsoever.

The cart that you can get at your local supermarket. Although I don't know what you call them in the USA. But in the UK and probably Europe, they are known as a shopping trolley.

Nice explanation.

I would have characterized it as " A vehicle for transporting groceries that has a mind of its own!!" 😉 Te He.

Haha it’s what we use at the supermarket doing the “big shop” - probably a UK thing 👍

Sadly, for some folks in the US, it carries everything they own.

There's always going to be trials and hurting in the world...

The Daher model mod on flightsim.io fixes this.

True, but then you'd lose all of the great turboprop/TBM adjustments from the last Asobo update.

Is there a setting to modify those carts? In my local store the freewheeling casters are getting annoying. Totally unrealistic…
