Asobo Looking for Aircraft Experts for testing

When a plane you've paid extra for is released in that state and not fixed at the earliest possible opportunity after the problem is reported, I'm afraid I have to differ with you.

This sim has had so many other things that were "released in that state"  - or even worse - right from the beginning, I'm not really surprised it still hasn't been fixed. Guess it's been marked low priority once and forgotten since.

To be clear, I agree they should've fixed it long ago, and they should have a category of bugs/improvements that are low priority but easy to fix. The fuel transfer in the DA40 TDI can probably be adjusted in 5 minutes if you're familiar with the plane configuration. And another 5-10 minutes to look up the transfer rate for a real plane.

The issues I see with MSFS and its development team aren't primarily about the default planes. As I said, I think overall they're better than in FSX and FS9. But in my opinion Asobo have severe issues with prioritising their bugfixes and work in general, and there have been multiple things that took ridiculously long to fix. Most prominently the autopilot - according to Seb, they put their largest team on it, but still it took 4-5 months before it worked reasonably well.

Anyway, for now there's enough content to spend many hours of happy flying with, with most of the default planes, and even more so with the incredible DC-6 released. I do want to see the DA40-TDI fixed soon, especially since I've realised not long ago that she's one of the few planes with steam gauges and was already looking forward to taking her for a ride. However, to me it makes more sense to focus on what's there and works well instead of the things that need fixing.

And trying to get back to topic, it's good see that Asobo and Microsoft are taking the necessary steps for improving the issues with MSFS. And contrary to previous MS Flight Sims, even to improve the default planes.

Yeah, and that’s one of the reasons I don’t get why people are so critical about the default planes, like they were subpar when compared to other sims. I get people want them to improved, but isn’t that what they are trying here?

Asobo could announce the imminent hire of 300 real world aviators ready to improve the default planes, project-managed by WT - all of this included for free in the next updates - trust me, there would be plenty of folks complaining here. It's just the way avsim works.

That's in part because announcements mean absolutely nothing compared to actual delivering updates.

So the announcement that Asobo contracted the WT guys to improve the default avionics, resulting in the actual contracting of WT,  leading to the development  of the G1000 Nxi, which will be early access in July, meant "absolutely nothing"?

Got it. 😄

I just think that MS / Asobo tested the water to start with.  Then they sold more copies of MSFS than they expected, and of course they now have the revenue streams from the marketplace and their own aircraft.

They say they have been overwhelmed by the take-up of the product and the community response.

So this allows them to spend more money on development of the sim, or speed up development.  I cannot see anything negative about this.

Even taking the shortcomings of the product into account, I am glad they released it 'early'.  I have had a lot of enjoyment with it in the meantime.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

What?! Are you kiding?!

Since the beggining people here asked for transparency and updates, and for that reason they created roadmaps, buglists and wishlists. The announcements and updates were, since the beggining, what users wanted. That said, what do you want? Do you want them to keep all information exclusively with the developers?

Also, they are delivering things, the simulator isn't released for a full year and we had lots of updates, both for the base simulator and the SDK. Unfortunaly there's no easy/cheap way to get there. They need money/developers/time for that. This thread here is about one of the ways they can fix one the features (airplanes), they are fixing the airplanes and they want feedback from knowledgeable users.

For the smaller planes at least they had actual pilots come in and talk about them with the team. They did flights in at least the 172 to get data.

Some of the dev team got their own PPLs for the project. But again that only really works for improving the small planes.

And none if that has anything to do with the fact that Asobo and MS can announce what they want but the only thing that matters is actually delivering on those announcements.

SU4 was the first time for me it felt like Asobo managed to delivery so hopefully we'll see Asobo properly start to build some momentum with SU5

Now I agree with you. I just disagreed because you said above their announcements mean "nothing".

I just disagree with that, because they mean something to me. I still believe they will deliver everything they are working with at some point.

I enjoy the heck out the stock 152, so don’t take this the wrong way, but, um, wouldn’t you want to recruit airplane experts for a flight simulator… at the beginning, and not a year after it’s released?

They did, but the extensive feedback from the users pointed to the direction we wanted more, so they are going further.

P.s.: Let's not forget we are talking about the default planes. They will never be top tier.

The default 152 is fantastic.

Most complains are about jets/airliners/turboprops.

I bet your rèsumè, full of years of relevant experience, is already sitting in Asobo's inbox.

I’m not a pilot so no. Although evidently some on Asobo’s team ARE pilots making this an odd request.

I drive my car everyday, but it doesn’t make me a car specialist. Why wouldn’t they use the feedback from knowledgeable users?
