FPS increase coming?

Featured Replies

Here is a small clip of the lod popin. This is a payware scenery from Sierrasim Simulation. If you look at the side of the runway you can see the runway signs pop in as you get close

Well, no surprise. Those who really thought that such a huge performance increase comes without any cuts/downgrades somewhere else is either utterly naive or has not much experience in the gaming/simming field.

ASOBO talked about 30FPS in XBOX, which might spike to ~45FPS if you have a VRR monitor, on DX12.

Whoever chooses to believe so called beta testers that break their NDA that promise every body 60FPS in 4K ultra...I mean not the must reliable source.

xplane 11 updates tended to break addons too, so what? you guys cry about performance, then they try to fix it and then you cry they broke some addons. cope

We are discussing the flight sim.   it is what the forum is for.  Who is crying?  Sounds like you are exaggerating a bit yourself there. 😕

I can see a few who have already tried to stop this discussion with straw man arguments (it's just a game etc.).  If you don't like the discussion, you don't have to enter it.  Cope! 😝

It's actually pretty neat how well the LOD's are working now. Once 3PD's start utilizing them correctly we'll get the same scenery as before SU5 but with way higher frames.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Interesting. I suppose this is not happening at Asobo airports?

Not all but I'm guessing they will have them fixed by release

Yes that's if they follow the best practices that Asobo recommend

I hope they're prompt with their POIs. Some of them are already a bit weirdly behaved. The Devil's Tower in Wyoming actually disappeared while I was crawling out of my wreckage on the top of it.

Ooof, you don't need to look at the side of the runway, the buggers jump out at you!

I get your point that it's not the end of the world or even the sim, and I'm sure, with time, it's fixable. But that effect is, while it lasts, very distracting.

How about redrawing of all rendered objects (as in autogen) when you pan around? Does it redraw everything you are not looking at to boost fps unlike today's version when it renders everything around you even if you are not looking at it (also very important for VR users)?

Yes it's fixable. The 3PD's will have to start setting the correct lod from the start. Btw this does not affect all 3rd party airports. Most of the airports from big devs doesn't have this problem, like FlyTampa or flightbeam

I've seen this but I wouldn't say it redraws everything. It's noticeable when there are big scenery like mountains etc. Say for instance if you're looking straight ahead and then look left you might see a quick redraw. Is it a show stopper? No but it can be a little distracting. This is something Asobo definitely needs to fixed.

Sorry, but that pop in is appalling in this day and age. 😆
If it is fixable by following the latest SDK, then fine going forward, but we all know how it is; some 3PD will either be slow to adjust old products or not bother at all.

I can see the comments coming 'well don't buy from them again then!', but that is no use to the people who have already paid and the product worked fine beforehand.

Personally I would rather keep my 30 fps that I have currently than have that.

I hope this is not the old argument from last year coming about the PC version being degraded to suit the Xbox performance, but it does look like it.
We don't need this 'type of' optimisation for the PC.  Most folks were happy but just looking forward to a nice little performance hike, but it shouldn't be at this expense.
It will be difficult to bear the people laughing and saying 'I told you so!'.  They will be along shortly no doubt.

My opinion only of course - flame all you like!

There seems to be a great deal of emphasis on professionals implementing best practices, but my community folder has about 3 professional mods and 100 or more non professional ones.

I'll bet you that faced with the prospect of redoing hundreds or thousands of models, plus whatever other new problems arise, means that many if not most of them will be abandoned or deleted.

I get the need for a tweak but maybe developers shouldn't have been permitted to be so 'lazy' in the first place.

This does not affect all airports so we know it can be fixed. Relax
