July 12, 20214 yr Just found out that only Upper Visibility does not work. On the ground and at low altitude (tested at 2600 ft ) I have to adjust the surface visibility to see the difference. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
July 12, 20214 yr I see what you are saying. My observation is that I think that there is an issue also with AS, as you mentioned. I would concentrate initially on P3D which is the main platform that is creating the issues. I feel sorry for all these developers trying to do something around buggy programming in P3D. Not fair at all. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

Would be good to have as much control as possible by exposing as many TS parameters as possible in the UI. Maybe the remaining community could more quickly refine the necessary adjustments, it appears that LM are introducing them by trickle, and taking a LONG time about each advance... July 12, 20214 yr I am very greatfull for all the work the beta testers do. But imho LM is making progress to slow. V5 probably will be the latest P3D I have bought. A pity as the sim is very stable but progress has become at a very low pace. And I do not want to stay with my current Addons as they will be outdated in the coming future… Edited July 12, 20214 yr by GSalden 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
July 12, 20214 yr One thing to remember when talking about high altitude visibility is the which is normally visible. Below the tropopause the visibility tends to hazy especially during the summer. I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam
July 12, 20214 yr I agree to a certain point, this "haze" will start to be visible not only in summer. When temp and dewpoint spread is about 3 degrees (C) or less, humidity, geographical location, inland or close to shorelines, big lakes, etc. you will see it. Many times going West from JFK to LAX during summer or winter you can see the mountains from at least over 200 NM before DEN regardless of summer. Sometimes not. Like crossing the EU from E to W or vice-versa. All I'm trying to say is that this P3D has constant multiple issues and more so lately with this situation. All I can see is that many loyal users of this platform are very cautious about investing in anything related to P3D and looking for other options available on the market. July 12, 20214 yr We seem to have gone round the circle with the horizon haze-shader issue. I reverted back to the stock LM Shaders with True Sky and EA. Using P3DWX as the weather engine and cloud draw distance limited to 80nm gives me the most acceptable results. Not perfect but then again looking at a variety of screenshots of sky in MSFS it is no better in some aspects (cloud colour-shape) worse. I have tried every possible setting covered in this thread and weather, pre-set, real time, altitudes and locations via AS and then P3DWX and shifted the seasons winter- summer etc. My reason for reversion is that other than the neat GUI with AS just using the standard LM shaders and my own monitor settings for brightness/bloom etc gives me the most realistic and acceptable outcome. I can live with a band on the horizon if I go to FL's. Edited July 12, 20214 yr by coastaldriver
July 12, 20214 yr This is a screen of the results of default basically everything. P3DWX real time between Lake Bracciano and the Coast in Italy, summer time A045. I think the haze and horizon is very good actually - nothing to complain about!

Unfortunately, limiting cloud draw distance to only 80 NM it's not the answer to the problem and not realistic. Also, I can understand PC limitations. For some of us flying monthly for a living in any geographical location that you can think about and any kind of weather, we find certain issues, and to be specific, in our case, this horizon haze issue should be addressed (fixed) for a better representation of our hobby. I'm quite reluctant to start comparing with other platforms because this discussion is related to only P3D.
