If I planned my flights the way the incumbent flight sim crowd generally seems to plan their development pretty much every flight would be a disaster: Missed OBTs, lost every other flight, landing at the wrong airport and running out of fuel over the atlantic on a regular basis.

Which maybe wouldn't even be so bad if it wasn't for the gigantic egos that reach for/lash out with the ban hammer anytime someone tries to hold things to a higher standard.

I have been very happy with what XP11 offers and have been thoroughly enjoying it (and its predecessors) over the last decade(s).

Interesting perspectives illustrating different approaches to Xplane (or life, perhaps). One sees potential and is frustrated by what could be/should be. The other enjoys what is.  Now, the former also enjoys what is or wouldn’t take the time to use the software, develop for it, and spend time on forums.  The latter, while enjoying the software, is not oblivious to its shortcomings and also develops for it implying that the software could be improved upon.

So, both enjoy the software, develop for it, recognize the software’s strengths and weaknesses, and are active on the same  forums.  And yet the positions they take would seem often to be opposites or at the least antagonistic.

Perhaps it’s egos and the point is to make a point, regardless.  Or maybe they both are simply enthusiastic about their hobby.  Either way, that would be more they have in common.  It’s a yin-yang kind of thing.

All this is to say, I enjoy your posts and contributions. 😁

Not the track I would have chosen, but sure.

Great example there would be all the "stick and rudder" recommendations. A book from 70+ years ago, before modern airliners existed, most of which is wrong.

Other examples of similar shortcomings would be ridiculous arguments over sim vs game, or what is meant by "study level". 

Simmers want to know how all that fits in with their ppl/cpl/atpl studies.

Gamers just want it to look as pretty as possible at 60fps+ without thinking much about how to make that happen.

And the egos think xplane is successful at both: woe betide any "troll" that thinks it fails at either.
