That's a tuff question I have both and wouldn't want to part with either.  They are very similar.  The Carenado graphics can't be beat but the AH graphics aren't far behind.  The 140 seems to have more character and is very pleasing in external view.  The carenado feels great in internal view.  Can't really comment on flight model both seem OK

The choice would be the C140 that turned into the C150 and the C170 that turned into the C172 in later years.  The C170 is faster than the C140 but they both look good in the sim.  They may look similar on the outside but they are two different aircraft much like the C172 and C182.  The C140 is painfully slow but looks amazing in the cockpit.  The C170 not so much but this model looks good just the same. What the heck, I bought them both...

So the question is which attracts you more!  In real life it would likely depend on which, if one or the other, is available for sale or share in your area.  In simulation?  It is just you get to pick based on the appeal you see.  Just don't drag out your decision!

Man, this one is a tough decision for me. But I'm leaning towards the C170.

Yeah the 170 looks tempting, though my only issue with Carenado stuff is you can only get it on the marketplace.  I would have bought the Seneca but it is market place only which is sad.

Sad?

Marketplace only mean that the files are encrypted so people can't modify or fix any of the internals of the plane, plus you are the whim of when MS get around to releasing updates (not that Carendao seem to release enough updates to really make that a problem)

But if it's the only way to buy it then it's the only way to buy it. My goodness, the hours of enjoyment I would have missed with the Mooney if I thought like that.

For me personally those are serious negatives and result in my definitely buying elsewhere if possible and only buying from the store when the plane is cheap enough to justify the limitations.

(The 170 is cheap enough in my opinion)

Yes, for £12.49 I think you can make an exception.

i certainly agree there, i would like to change something in the WACO, but not possible.

pricewise this is great yes, so not too big  a loss if i dont like it.

What makes a "study level" single engine GA aircraft?
