To not do so would be....well, just silly. Its time for FSL to fish or cut bait...and the way it seems to be going if they remain silent, they are cutting the bait. 😉 Edited July 13, 20214 yr by Steve Dra Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

I've been simming since the very first version of FS, so I'm well aware...lol. We are seeing MS and ASOBO actually deliver and doing it quickly. Yeah, the improvements being made to MSFS are finally culminating into critical mass for it to seriously threaten both X-Plane and P3D (well, MSFS is already a very, very serious threat to P3D in the home consumer simulator market). I am shocked that Sim Update 5 has the potential to provide an nice further boost in FPS. I know in the video that Asobo and Seb showed, the FPS boost was something like a 65% FPS boost. But I'm going to assume that was a cherry picked scenario by Seb to show the best FPS boost possible. So for the average MSFS user, I am going to temper my expectations a little and assume everyone gets a 30% boost in FPS for Sim Update 5, on average. But even if everyone gets on average, a 30% FPS boost from Sim Update 5 (30% is a low ball figure by me, to temper my expectations), that is a nice boost for everyone. The best part about the FPS boost is that it may allow Asobo to implement even more advanced graphics in MSFS, because the FPS boost from Sim Update 5 gives them some margin now. The problem for X-Plane and P3D is that they need to match the graphics of MSFS, while keeping the FPS high. That's a tall order for X-Plane and P3D, given both are using old architecture. If X-Plane and P3D have already been optimized before for FPS, I have no idea how either simulator will be able to improve the graphics to match MSFS, while keeping also keeping the FPS high. I guess we will find out. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

It does wear you down after a while, and Lefteris may just be ready to hang it up. They'll keep the doors open as long as it's economically viable, then fade away like LDS did (That was a sad departure, spent many years flying and painting that aircraft). It's funny he did actually reply in that post, but only to remind people not to advertise other dev's work in the thread...not to actually (finally) make a statement about MSFS, even though he was directly asked (many times). The partners that MS has are enabling them to move at light speed. What's even more mind boggling is, what could be year 2 or 3 bring? I have a feeling we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. Jeff D. A year or so ago they could have easily said they were 'looking at it to see if it was viable for us'. They didn't even say that. They had the market for the Bus sealed up. They were the reason I started flying it. They were the reason I got hooked on it. Jeff D. IF they have the capability do it, you'd think that would be the smart play. It would probably sell like hot cakes. The Concorde is still probably one of the most requested aircraft in a sim. Work on Concorde for P3D v4/5 continues but there are no announcements as you’re well aware. I’m just as frustrated as everyone else but I would imagine they’ll say something when they’re ready. This new Airbus project will have caused some consternation and they’ll need to assess their options I imagine before announcing their intentions. Ray (Cheshire, England). Yeah Ray....but their platform (should they not move to MSFS) is becoming an ever smaller lake pond backyard pool glass of water teaspoon to fish from, and as I mentioned, it seems they are happy to just cut bait for Fenix who's gonna be pulling in the big fish in MSFS when (if) they release their Airbus. Of course, they seem to have their heads sunk so deep in the sand about updates and/or a release roadmap for MSFS, we can only speculate, and while that strategy has worked for them over the years (because they were essentially the only high fidelity Airbus maker in the market), they now have something they never had before...real (apparent) competition. If they don't give everyone an idea if they are even in the MSFS game soon (and especially if a few more reviews/streams come out showing what this new bird can do)...believe me simmers will make that decision for them...hence the thought of retirement. Hard to sell a product with no market. I know this is all speculation, but what else can you do when a dev has employed the ostrich maneuver? 😉 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

Sorry we kind of hijacked the topic a bit. In any case, back to FENIX. I for one welcome them and are more then willing to give them a 'day one' chance. I feel they have their heads on straight. I had actually sort of decided I wasn't interested in a CEO for the new sim, but they have changed my mind, so I'll grab it when it comes out. 🙂 Jeff D.
