Thats terrable I feel for you.

I had to send my 3080 back and got it replaced and the new one is like night and day from the first in the way it handles itself.

The 3080 and even more so the 3090 handle heat realy badly. 

Someone on here asked me to down load GPU-Z and open sensers window, run MSFS and see. OMG! GPU "temps" where "fine" but what GPU-Z showed was my VRAM temp was going up to 105-110. I think it was to late by then. The card would run MSFS/ REIV fine then suddenly CTD. I sent the card back, my new one managers temps so much better even running the most demaining MSFS tests I can do with FPS at unlimited (Very BAD Idea) it tops out at 86-88. 

With FPS locked at 30 or 40 VRAM Mem temp is around 55-60

Look at the test, its the harest I can do. Look at "GPU" temp and then look at the line for VRAM Mem TEMP. 

I fear and I hope its not the case but random CTD could be down to running unlimited FPS and it burning out/damage VRAM. My old card would run right upto 110 even 115 VRAM temp. It helped hugely not to run unlimited FPS. I will never in any game or sim run Unlimited as I have seen what it can do to a GPU mem temps with out you even seeing it when just looking/seeing GPU temp. Also note "hot Spot"

I truly hope this is not the case. But it seems 3080-3090 have now been changed to work and handle "hidden" temps a lot better. My new card is like a diffrent card when I see how it handles itself but the REV # was the same, so they changed something but I dont know what. But it was back and white the results. The first Cards(the first month or two) seem to be the ones to see this.

Please run GPU-Z and unlimited and see. Have a good look at what you see here on the right.

ALSO:

Prosser laso and HWmonitor are known to cause CTD with MSFS.

Reminds me of a game I played this year ( the guy from the walking dead) and if I had MSI afterburner running in any way shape for forum CTD close MSI aftrburner, all good.

I made 2 test flights so far. 

Aerosoft CRJ 700 -  EDDK( Aerosoft) - EDDF 

B787 ( Heavy division mod) - LGAV-LGRP 

no crashes, no issues. Just smooth butter flights with unbelievable fps ( 60 to 100ffps)  and not a single stutter. I couldnt believe how smooth 787 was....

I had some weird random crashes yesterday. I removed A32NX fbw ( latest dev update)  and since then zero crashes. Maybe those crashes have to do with Live Weather or even MS servers + 3rd party compatibility issues 

Lets be patience , i am sure Los Asobos will fix those issues

are you sure its not any addon, user mod or paid one??? there are issues with these.

its very stable for me, there is only an ai traffic ctd bug. so ai off for now and all is good.

i fly without addons, except now the pushback and the ctrl z one.

Well... after two or three flights this morning without problem I had another CTD while flying!

-No air traffic.

-Vsync on (limited to 60fps).

-I have installed just two or three addons that worked before the update.

I don't know what to do!

It is reported to Zendesk, but... no solution!

They still haven't fixed the CTDs that are number 3 or 4 of the things to fix for many months.

Those addons that worked before the update, do you know if they have been updated for SU5? That might be whats causing the CTD

Thanks Mikey, I did as suggested but I still crash out of the sim at the 'Fly now' page. I guess I will have to wait and hope the FBW team come up with a solution.

Have done two flights now LFPO-EGPH and EGPH-EBBR with the FBW A320 and not a single CTD..and performance is good.

One of those addons it is optimized for the update, but I don't know about the other two.

Anyway, I had some CTDs before without any addon.

Now I'm going to fly again by the same area with no addons and let's see what happens!

If you look at the MSFS forums (not only AVSIM) you can realize that the problem of CTDs after SU5 update is very widespread.

Maybe Asobo didn't test this update enough!

 

 

It's such a shame, from what was a stunning experiance has now been demoted to 4-5 attempts to fly a simple route (and i have followed all the recommended standing issues and work arounds) with CTD's, constantly trying to run the game, 9 times out of 10 it drops just after pressing the Fly button. Yet then on the 4 or 5th attempt it will work, nothing changed, nothhing added.

Then your into the relms of the washed out graphics, albeit with fantastic fps figures you could only wish for last week.

John, setting V-sync to 60FPS is only good if you never drop below 60 FPS. It would not make a CTD but just saying...
