Sounds like developers at least may get some sort of access in September, so fingers crossed. No doubt early versions will be a long time in beta As for MFS SU5... I'm not seeing any visual differences or downgrades. Performance is better, but graphically it's the same sim. The biggest problem for me are the LOD changes and some issues with the SDK and having to update lots of products to get them working on the xbox. These issues will be resolved in time by 3rd parties, so it's just a matter of being patient I think.

I don't have one and just can't find a good combination of gamma/contrast/brightness etc. Nudging down the gamma helps but the trouble is that affects everything and not just MSFS.
July 30, 20214 yr Moderator No, running on a gaming laptop, so the display has never been anything to shout home about, so it's possible it simply is very unnoticeable to me, but likely much more noticeable to people who are running 4k HDR displays, especially if they have been tweaking the texture resolution. The colour/brightness pallet of MFS has always been pretty similar to me with how I have my XP setup with xVision shader tweaks

But after SU5 I seriously consider XP11 with OrbX and XVision to be the better looking sim in many ways. At least on my PC. And I never thought I would ever be saying that!

Mayyybe the textures in the cockpit has a slightly less sharp appearance but overall it looks absolutely stunning and the frames to boot. Now I'm happy to see what the hotfix will bring (hopefully the insane bug with high temperatures at altitude will get the well deserved 10ga slug). That being said, looking forward to XP12. Hope the 3pd devs can get their stuff out to the new version without too much trouble. Lots of good aircraft in my hangar I'd like to take with me to XP12. For scenery, there is a huge amount of choice, but not so much for aircraft. Definitely lacking some of the aircraft I had in P3D and X-Plane 1 hour ago, jarmstro said: Same. Well, I'm certainly looking forward to upgrading the TrueEarth regions with the new tree tech when/if the time will come. Getting the trees to look decent was always a huge challenge and something I tried very hard to get around when working on these. Judging by the videos, this will make a massive difference here, along with the lighting. I just hope it doesn't require a supercomputer to run it

I still really think it would make sense to fix the lighting and do general perf optimisations in XP11 first. New NDs, trees/scenery and clouds are reason enough for those who can to switch to XP12, finishing XP11 would make it very attractive to those who havent quite got the hardware yet and shorten the gap considerably between now and a flightsim that doesnt have showstopper issues for everyone. I suspect/hope these complications are why they are so coy over the format of the next release. AutoATC Developer
July 31, 20214 yr Looking forward to seeing more on the new volumetric clouds. For me that's the biggest visual improvement. The new trees look good but most of the time when flying at a reasonable speed and height even the 2d trees don't look too bad. The clouds are where I will salivate or drool over my keyboard.
