August 1, 20214 yr I'm looking forward to seeing what Laminar come up with. I am enjoying MSFS (or at least was until SU5 messed up some of my visuals) but I see no reason to not use 2 sims at once and enjoy what they both bring to the table. In any case, competition is healthy. Personally, the focus on new weather and surrounding world environment features sounds great. The new trees look fantastic. Hopefully they'll greatly improve the ground textures and maybe use some kind of procedural generation for rocks and stuff.

However, and trust me I've played about with every setting, it now looks like nothing special at all. In fact the sim looks awful. Now is the chance for LR to show their metal and get XP12 released. Will they grasp this opportunity? + 10, 000!

I most hope, being a water amphibian guy...that they do major work on water surfaces to bring as close to a real life look and wave/water motion as possible. That would be fabulous for my main usage. I love to taxi from water docks...and taxi back to a water dock. Most of my screenies always has me on the water, or above it. This would be great if applied! Personal opinion that the best depiction of 'living water' to date, is the nVidia WaterWorks 2 that is used and displayed within P3D v5.2HF1. If Laminar could replicate that...well...it would be wonderful to see.
September 8, 20214 yr I had msfs 2020 installed and I'm not blind to the great visuals and potential. But I only fly modern airliners, so the visuals aren't my main concern. So I continue to do my flightsimming in xp 11. This morning, the latest update for msfs 2020 refused to show up in the Ms store (and yes I've read and tried all suggestions). That did it for me and I performed a complete Uninstall. I feel relieved not to depend anymore on the ridiculous update charade from a cynical multi national.

There's plenty of great stuff happening around these days in X-Plane's World, and XP12 hasn't even been fully presented ! And, even if not for many other good reasons if, for instance, choppers are your beach, there's really no best choice ! yes i know DCS has it, but even the UH-1H in DCS isn't the best UH-1H among platforms these days... and DCS is a Combat Sim, with limited scenery ( flat Earth btw... what a joke ... ) Edited September 8, 20214 yr by jcomm Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Once the new 747-200 is out, I am going to be spending quite a bit of time in XP, no matter how good MSFS might be. I have been looking forward to this new aircraft for a long time. But the big guns are rolling forward to the firing line in the form of PMDG and Fenix amongst others. .. Once released I am unsure what even XP12 will have to offer? LR need to pull a unique rabbit out of the hat.

They are the reason why we have good reasons to use multiple platforms. In MFS I am a big fan of the PMDG dc-6. In P3D I used the FSLABS a320, in XP11 there are many more I could use, including helicopters, but my preferred so far are still the Toliss a319, the Bell 412 and the Nimbus UH-1h. Ftsim+ fmod sound packs for many XP11 aircraft are superb, including the Tolisses, I like a lot what he did with the A321 sounds for the CEO and NEO engines. Alexander Colka

I agree, although I can easily accept not top sounds an even graphics, specially external, in exchange for detailed system, aerodynamics and overall performance.
