Memory temperatures are usually higher than total GPU temps, and for 3080 / 3090 I think the memory starts throttling at 110 degrees. Definitely kind of scary when you first see it though. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
August 3, 20214 yr I had some problems keeping fps @ 30 by setting it within the sim. GPU temp was in high 70s until low 80s. I'm not sure if it were the NV profiles, but I reset both, Global and MSFS to default, then I set VSync in the sim OFF and fps went very high until I enabled VSync again and limited fps @ 30. Since then I have stable 30 fps all the time with RenderScale at 100-120 and LODs are set to 6.0. GPU temp is now in the mid 70s. GPU Mem at 94-96 °C. Is this still too high or even dangerous for my card? - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

FPS Locked to 30 FPS or 20FPS, thats BS well not totaly. I will give you two E.G. If your screen is set to 60Hz V-Sync ON FPS set to 30FPS it will set 30 FPS and it also will Set 20 FPS Now here is the BS If you set you Refresh rate to 120Hz Lock it as 30 FPS.......It now will lock your FPS to 60 FPS Lock it as 20 FPS.......it now will lock your FPS to 40 FPS Becasue the interface is so bad. It should read Lock you frames to 1/2 of your refreash rate Lock your frames to 1/3 of your refreash rate Its no wonder so many people think it does not work....Its OK its not you just the terrable way they word it. I hope that helps? Well i tried with 20 ingame but for some reason it is then caped to 46 fps. To reduce my fps on the monitor side i have to desable g-sync. But then i have a terribly burned image, way to bright (perhaps because of the HDR?). 46 is ok, i gained 5 degree on my gpu 🙂 Edited August 3, 20214 yr by webstef68

I have a Free Sync G-Sync compatible samsung screen set at 144 at the moment, i will try 20 in msfs to cap it down to 36 if y understood correctly 😉. Because my GC runs at 100% / 80 deg at the moment (MSI afterburner) and that means fans are running at 90%, louder than the DC-6 engines 😁 You need to read what I said again 20 FPS = 1/3 144/3 is not 36 its 48 9 minutes ago, webstef68 said: Well i tried with 20 ingame but for some reason it is then caped to 46 fps. August 3, 20214 yr V-Sync options in settings refer only to 60 Hz monitors, therefore it becomes confusing information, Asobo uses Adaptive V-Sync which works differently than the old standard V-Sync. Thank you, yes i read to fast probably because i will be ont the road to holidays in one hour and have a lot to think about, sorry. Like i said, to bring back the fps on the monitor side under 144 i have to disable the gsync feature, what i did to give it a try but all of my colors get over over exposed i can barely see the plane, and i don’t want to mess with the colors because i found the sweet spot. Thank you anyway 😉
August 3, 20214 yr Just a suggestion: If you feel like your GPU is going in "runaway mode" ramping up and spitting out hundreds of useless frames in the menus while slowly cooking itself, you could use MSI Afterburner (works for all GPUs) and set a temperature limit on it. For example 80 degrees. The card will throttle itself to stay below those temps. I recommend MSI Afterburner 4.6.3 which is the latest full release. I have made a profile in it that I only run while running MSFS. Lower temps, a bit higher fan RPM. Outside of MSFS I use the default Silent Bios with max 70% fan spin. Also GPU-Z is good to have, to keep an eye on temps and power limits and all that. Another thing I stumbled over the other day: I was in a forum where they discussed GPUs, PSUs and how many PCI-E cables to use with their graphics cards. My RTX 3090 had 3x PCI-E connectors, but I had been using 2x PCI-E and splitting the 2nd one for the third connector. I've now connected a separate 3rd cable. What several people in these forums reported, was that going away from splitting (piggy tailing) the PCI-E cables had removed stutters and FPS drops in various games. Meaning, your GPU might throttle itself slightly if it doesn't get enough stable power from your power supply. If you can, use different PCI-E cables for each of the connectors, don't split them. It might help with stutters.
