****Happy Birthday MSFS2020 ****

Recommended Posts

Hopefully, this thread will continue in peace and just comments about having the new simulator.

Lets keep this place for relaxation and our hobby.

Did I miss something but it seems to me that the celebration was very low key from the usually « excited » MS marketing team ? No thanks to an awesome community, no looking forward to an even brighter future ? And, worse of all, ... no gift 🤣 !

Yes, you are right.I was also expecting MS/Asobo would make more fascinating celebration  in a post (in the official forum) or soemthing similar. It seems they are quite quiet 🙂

I was expecting some kind of celebration, but I haven't heard anything from either MS or Asobo.

On the official Twitter account (@MSFSofficial) Microsoft announced "multiple events from Sept. 6-10" to celebrate the first year of MSFS.

Quoted from Facebook: "It's the one year anniversary of #MicrosoftFlightSimulator launching on PC! The team is hard at work on the next update, but we'll be celebrating properly with multiple events from Sep. 6-10. To our players, thank you for a great Year 1. We can't wait for what Year 2 will bring."

I didn't.

As usual, without a reason, an innocent, celebrative thread is used to attack those guilty of not conforming to the "thanks Microsoft thanks Asobo" mantra.

This time they are implicitly defined infants. Other times they were called old grumpies with nothing to do in their lives, whiners, moaners, delusional, agents of some hostile entity, enemies of the almighty Microsoft, haters of MSFS (!), spoiled demanding kids, and so on.

Enough is enough.

You have a vivid imagination......🙄

But back to the celebration:

Installing MSFS 2020 for the first time was like having rented a flophouse and suddenly being upgraded to a 3 bathroom condo in Manhattan.

Yeah I have a great imagination, it helps a lot in my job.

But this time I needed no imagination at all: reading the nice posts that a few fellow forum members had addressed to me was sufficient.

Thank you for this new provocation, everyone needed it. Really.

Oh btw: what a materialistic metaphor for you first encounter with MSFS 2020! Mine was much more poetic, and enthusiastic (read above if you have time).

Cheers

A.

Thanks and congrats, it's been a great year, with ups and downs.

Also reminds me that it's now one year since I moved away from Kiribati. Time flies!

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

I agree that enough is enough, but let's be honest -- the insults have flown in both directions, from those happy with MSFS and those who are unhappy. I have been attacked in this forum merely for reporting that for me, SU5 produced great improvement in performance with no detectable degradation in graphics. I have been very careful to say that I respect and sympathize with those having a different experience, but I am nevertheless accused of "defending" Asobo, just for reporting what I see! Yes, enough is enough, but that applies to everybody. What is lacking here is mutual respect.

If we agree that personal attacks are always wrong and should be avoided in the future, what else is left to say?

I hope that everyone agrees with you (and me)! We will see.

Good to hear. I hope the "A." on the other thread (with whom I had an interesting discussion recently) sees this, and agrees.
